Adult looking for answers about college, specifically Nursing school.

I'm a 31 year old single father who currently has something of a dead-end job after giving a sales career a shot (I was terrible). I have a BA in History from Ohio State with a graduating GPA of 2.42 (it's fun working full time, going to school full time and raising a kid full time!). I want to go back to school, but don't know where to start. [more inside]

I finally made some decisions, but I'm pretty sure i was wrong. Help?

I recently switched to part time at work and moved back in with my parents so that I could attend grad school full time and I'm beginning to think that I made a horrible mistake. Would it be a terrible idea to leave school and try to figure out another direction? (details inside) [more inside]

Legal Career Advice

I am looking for some career advice regarding search techniques and information about non-traditional legal jobs that I may be overlooking. I am interested in international law, environmental law, administrative law, and trade and investment law. I have work experience in international law and have also lived and studied abroad. Prior to law school I worked in finance for four years (my undergraduate degree is in international finance), I am located in the Northeast, and I am awaiting results from the bar exam which I took this past July. What are some alternatives to going to college?

What are some options for a bright young man who wants to delay college? It can be volunteer-based, overseas, career ideas, special programs, alternate ideas of how to approach higher learning...anything. The main thing he wants is real-world experience outside of a classroom, something that will help him grow as a person and help him learn what he wants out of life. [more inside]

Making the Most of a Full-time MPP Program

I recently accepted an offer for a spot in a full time MPP program from a very decent, non-Ivy school. My funding (per an assistantship or researcher position) reduces the total tuition to approximately $3000, and the program provides an allowance for an unpaid or poorly paid summer internship. I have enough money saved to avoid going into debt if I work part time. I want to offset the opportunity costs of two years outside of work by making myself as employable as possible. [more inside]

Yet another financial advice question

I need some advice about career plans, graduate studies and whether to rent or to own. Mostly in the financial context but also, of the bigger picture view -- am I being overly optimistic, am I too focused on career? [more inside]

How Can I Silence My Gas :( ?

I'm a 21 years old girly-girl going into my junior year of college. I had a 'simple' surgery in November go horribly awry, leaving me on bed-rest for weeks, and initially fully fecally incontinent. I had to leave the semester early to recuperate, and took the spring semester off, and haven't interacted with my peers since I left. I am supposed to start school again on Tuesday. I'm largely better, and certainly out of diapers. Unfortunately though, gas still passes through me totally freely, and I'm absolutely petrified at the thought of being flatulent in quiet classrooms and lectures, etc. The noise is my only concern. Does anyone have any suggestions for ways I can silence my gas? [more inside]

Help With Tricky Boss in New Job

Please help ensure the success of my friends new school teaching job. It looks like an excellent job in many respects, but there are two stumbling blocks: 1. The boss is tricky, likely a corporate psychopath. 2. staff are expected to work approximately 30% longer than regular school on-site hours, for no extra pay or compensation. more inside ...
