I recently accepted an offer for a spot in a full time MPP program from a very decent, non-Ivy school. My funding (per an assistantship or researcher position) reduces the total tuition to approximately $3000, and the program provides an allowance for an unpaid or poorly paid summer internship. I have enough money saved to avoid going into debt if I work part time. I want to offset the opportunity costs of two years outside of work by making myself as employable as possible.

I need some advice about career plans, graduate studies and whether to rent or to own. Mostly in the financial context but also, of the bigger picture view -- am I being overly optimistic, am I too focused on career?

I'm a 21 years old girly-girl going into my junior year of college. I had a 'simple' surgery in November go horribly awry, leaving me on bed-rest for weeks, and initially fully fecally incontinent. I had to leave the semester early to recuperate, and took the spring semester off, and haven't interacted with my peers since I left. I am supposed to start school again on Tuesday. I'm largely better, and certainly out of diapers. Unfortunately though, gas still passes through me totally freely, and I'm absolutely petrified at the thought of being flatulent in quiet classrooms and lectures, etc. The noise is my only concern. Does anyone have any suggestions for ways I can silence my gas?

Advice needed!: Hi everyone, thanks to a friend letting me use her account. I'm a 25year old college graduate currently returning to school to do undergraduate prereqs to go into medicine. I live in Arizona and have a pretty serious situation. I've been pounding the pavement looking for work, part time or full time for over a year now, tailoring my resume for each application I make out.

Please help ensure the success of my friends new school teaching job. It looks like an excellent job in many respects, but there are two stumbling blocks:
1. The boss is tricky, likely a
corporate psychopath.
2. staff are expected to work approximately 30% longer than regular school on-site hours, for no extra pay or compensation.
