My 11 yr old has iron deficient anemia related to colitis. I have been giving him a liquid iron supplement but it makes him feel nauseous. I have also tried pills - same result. I've tried administering multiple small doses - same result. Diet is as iron rich as I can make it. Does anytone have any suggestions as to how to increase his iron intake without this annoying (and uncomfortable) side effect?

You're hosting a party for lots of people.
How do you manage the music to be played? If you decided to allow people to pick and chose their favourite tracks from your large MP3 collection - how would you go about doing it? [more inside..]

I really like Apparat
, Mouse on Mars
and Telefon Tel Aviv
: warm, crunchy, melodic, intricately textured electronica that never, or rarely, assaults the ear with walls of noise. What else will I like?

I'm officiating my little sister's wedding ceremony this Friday, and I'm looking for a great reading. She's young and somewhat cynical, so something modern-sounding and non-mushy would be great. Any suggestions?

On the "I can't remember what book this was..." kick, I've been trying to find a book from years ago that was so bad that it was phenomenal. It was sci-fi that began with the premise that whales and dolphins could speak human languages. We discovered this when a dolphin being trained for the Russian military finally broke and began speaking to humans as it feared for its life (I think). The book then goes on to silly detail about different cetaceans and how they talk (Blue whales being stupid and inarticulate, orcas talking in something resembling old english saying "Ye of the lande" and such - yes, the extra e was added in on some of those words). The whole thing comes to a head as we attempt to make contact with giant Jovian Space Whales and to do so construct our own gigantic robotic space whale with the brain of a blue whale.
I know this sounds like a crack-trip, but I REALLY want to find this book so that I can give it to a fellow marine ecologist as a gift for christmas. It's the funniest thing EVER.

What would you like your epitaph to read? If you prefer not to be buried, what shall become of your mortal remains?

I'm leaving for Amsterdam in less than two weeks. I've been to the museums, I know which coffeebars I like. Where fun is there to do? Winston? That hidden anarchist's bar I can never find? Stampot at Haesje Claes?

I need a CMS recommendation. I've been asked to find and set up a suitable content management system to be used by software and hardware developers for a project here at work. It needs to have good CVS and bug tracking modules. [mi] [more inside]

Song name! I can't remember practically anything about a song except that it was sung by a woman, say alto range, and contains the words "sing a lovely song" sung such that "sing" was held for longer than any other syllable in that phrase and "love" was sharply higher than any other note in the phrase, and I think held for less time than "a", "ly" and "song", "song" being held but not for as long as "sing". I realize that's not much to go on, but maybe someone has an idea? Also, I might be wrong about it being sung by a woman, and possibly everything else.

A friend and I
will be travelling from Bermuda
to Hong Kong
, and Singapore
for a three week vacation in late October - early November. We are straight single guys, 30, and would love to find some cool places to stay and things to do while we are there. We don't mind paying anywhere from $100 - $250 a night.
If you live in one of these cities, and can recommend some places to stay and things to do off the beaten track, it would be our pleasure to take you out when we get there.

Vague request for a screensaver: I saw it being linked either at MeFi or at meepzorp or at some other cool blog, however: It was a b/w flash-animation that featured just all sorts of weird forms and figures shifting into each other in organic movements, occassionally a piece of colour dropping into the process. I really don't know how to describe better. There was also a screensaver file which I am looking for. I think the filename was something like "tubular" - or maybe not. I said
it was a vague request!

I've found the most incredible page on angelfire that just has to be shown to Metafilter. The problem is, well, it's angelfire...
The author is a russian woman who gives no contact details on her website. I'd love to share it with MeFi, but mirroring the images seems potentially dangerous. Thoughts?
