I need advice about the possibility living in Northern Alaska, Kotzebue/Nome/north of the 65th parallel. I have about a million logistical questions, a little disorganized, including questions about mental health problems, medications, getting specialist care. If you needed medical care on a regular basis several hundred miles away, how did you arrange that? Lots of other questions about living in the arctic! Help!

Are there risks in having botox injections for a neutropenia sufferer?
A relation of mine is determined to have botox injections to get rid of wrinkles, however, they suffer badly from cyclic neutropenia which means that their immune system is often weak and have white blood cell issues and consequently they get infections frequently. I am aware that botox is botulinum toxin and I have kept trying to persuade her to see her doctor before having botox injections, to check whether they are safe for her in light of neutropenia. She is desperate to go ahead with this and it is hard to persuade her to get medical advice on this. From a layman's perspective, I am concerned that this may be dangerous for her.
Does anybody with medical knowledge, perhaps haematology, know if this botox is safe for neutropenia sufferers?
Many thanks!

Earlier this week I witnessed a pedestrian/car accident while traveling in Calcutta, India. A boy was pinned between two vehicles and his leg is badly injured. [warning] Here is a
photo of his leg a few days later. His care is deficient as best and I am looking for advice and suggestions. Inside is an excerpt from
my blog where you can find the full story, including known medications administered.

Fibroid tumours. I just went for a kidney scan, and while I was there the doctor told me he saw I have a fibroid tumour and need to have it checked out by a gynecologist. I have an appointment for a week from today, but in the meantime, if any of the ladies of metafilter have experience with this kind of tumour, it would be really comforting to me to get some first-hand accounts. PillsFilter. You'd think that a woman my age could swallow pills, but you'd be wrong. As I chewed several children's Tylenols this morning, I told myself that there
had to be a way to master this skill. I should add that the problem is not the size of the pill, but the actual swallowing-without-chewing bit--even with teensy-tiny pills, my throat closes up. Any suggestions, before I manage to contract some deadly illness that requires the daily ingestion of an entire pharmacy?
