I’m trying to start up a housecleaning business, but can’t figure out how to actually get any customers. I’ve been putting flyers on houses in fairly upscale neighborhoods – McMansions, hip urban condos, places populated by professionals and executives. I have an ad on craigslist, although my city doesn’t use craigslist much. I’m not getting anywhere with either of those methods though.

I'm in contention for a job as a social media marketing and advertising representative at a medium sized music hardware-related company. Basically, I haven't found a great idea of how much I should ask for as far as salary. Additionally, I don't know what else to ask for in this job as I've never held a salaried position in my life.

Looking for some good documentaries on advertising, marketing, public relations & consumerism to help teach an undergraduate class! We have a list of possible documentaries already (we will show selected excerpts - not the entire thing) but were wondering if we were missing anything out and what the Hive Mind might suggest! Good "teaching moment" video clip suggestions based on Mad Men and other fictional advertising/marketing/PR/consumerism-themed films and TV shows are also welcome. Or perhaps there are even good relevant scenes from documentaries which are primarily about some other topic. Thanks for any help... it's much appreciated! Full list that we already have compiled inside...

I am really confused and need help. My job is in the online advertising world as a product marketing manager. New job position. The problem is that my knowledge of online advertising is low although I have worked in this field for 4 years.
I am looking for classes/courses/online resources that would help. Books would be great for both online advertising (Display not search) and on product marketing
Please dont suggest googling or the usuals -I know all of those. I am looking for something like Laredo online training.
Please help, I may lose my job soon because of this.

PPC, CPM, SEO, SEM, Ad Buy, Advertising and Marketing Filter: My Company is now making a big push into email marketing and lead and customer nurturing. We bought “Eloqua” to do this, and I am charged with the implementation. Since I want to "add the most value" I can, I am looking for resources (especially blogs, but books are good too) that are well respected, and that can help me get up to speed with my understanding of industry parlance, technique, best practices, theory, and execution of online advertising and marketing in all its forms (We are going to be making a push into search engine marketing as well). So far I have read "
The Long Tail" and "
Digital Body Language" I am also interested in keeping up with industry news and events, as well as new technologies and implementations.

Recently I've thought of a great idea for a website which I'm planning on developing soon. I believe the site has the potential of something like YouTube or Facebook.
Due to my paranoia and low budget, I've decided to develop the site myself. I believe no one has the capacity or resources to copy the site for at least a fortnight.
Due to the low budget Im having to resort to spreading the word over the net.
Unfortunetly I cannot reveal what the site is about :( I was just wondering if anyone knows of any descent sites or forums that are pretty general, where I could post my idea? so i can reach as many people as possible within a fortnight.
P.S. Please don't say Youtube or Facebook... lol
