Where do I buy gym shoes in the (Chicago) Loop? I trashed my Nikes at Lollapalooza over the weekend, and I don't want to show up to my "Personal Fitness Assessment" tonight with busted kicks. I'm at Monroe & Franklin, so the closer to there the better.

I'm open to falling from grace.

Before I turned to the Suede-side and only wore Puma sneakers, I used to have a really cool pair of Adidas. I want to find out what they were called, and if I can still buy a pair. Back in the Australia of the late 1990s I had some neat Adidas kicks and they were so comfy that I want to buy another pair (if they still make them, that is).

I can't remember the model/style name, and none of the pictures at the Adidas online store or sneakerhead.com or zappos look like what I remember. I used to wear them skating, and they kinda looked like a Superstar II, but instead of the rubber shell toe, they were fabric and the fabric was made out of 4 or 5 pieces to create a top, left, right and front box-section. I vaguely remember the toe being really thick and re-enforced, but I could be imagining things.

Mine were a beige colour, with a white rubber side on the bottom, and a tan sole. They were hellishly ugly, with a reasonably thick tongue, I think. I stopped wearing them when I discovered the Frankenclyde (which is still the single most comfortable sneaker I have ever worn, way more so than the original, but they too are now hard to find) and forgot about them, until recently, when I saw some new Superstars and though "Hmm, the look kinda like what I want to wear now, maybe I should get a pair of those old ones?"

But, alas, I can't unless I can remember the name.

Does anyone have any idea what they may be called? Or know of a website that lists (with pictures) all of the Adidas models of the past 15 years or so? (I have looked the the Adidas Original store, superstardb.com and tried Google Image search all to no avail).

We make a good team, my Adidas and me

My beloved Adidas Samba Classics have a hole in them. Before I buy another pair, are there any other casual, everyday sneakers I should check out? I've been wearing Sambas for about five years now, and I'm ready to try something new if I can find anything compelling.

I love the Sambas because of their sleek, classic look. The downside is that they're pretty flat and they're not very comfortable if I'm on my feet a lot. Basketball shoes, like Air Force Ones or shell toes, offer more comfort, but usually have big chunky soles that look more sporty than casual.

The Sambas have been great with the weather in Portland too. They're leather, so they don't get my feet wet when it's soggy out, and they're all black, so they don't look dirty. The Adidas Campus is tempting, but I'm not sure how the suede and white soles would look after a rainy spell.

I also have a pair of Air Force Ones, some Chuck Taylors, and a pair of Vans slip ons. My Sambas have remained the go to sneakers in my arsenal.

I'm male, if you're interested. Thanks for your help!

Which to buy? Original Adidas GSG9 or GSG9 v2?

Adidas GSG9.2 vs original GSG9? Which to buy? Adidas has released an update to the classic GSG9 tactical boot. I have an opportunity to buy either the updated GSG9 or the original. Price is irrelevant.

Which should I get?

How can I replace my favorite pair of old shoes?

Please, please, please help me locate and buy these shoes. I bought this pair of suede Adidas Daroga shoes about three years ago. As a direct result of my daily and torrid love affair with these shoes, the soles have worn through and I'm desperate to find a replacement pair in womens size 6.5 (US), preferably in the same alluring cargo/green color combination that first caught my eye and my heart. My love for these shoes knows no bounds, but despite scouring the internet, I've had no luck. Any ideas?

(P.S. I'm not really interested in any of the newfangled versions of the Daroga, with all their mesh and leathery business.)

Another soccer/football question

I've played soccer my whole life, compared to my European brethren I know very little about the sport (and its stars). Anyone know a good book about soccer/football that will allow me to speak with authority when someone references Michel Platini, Franz Beckenbauer, or even Cisse or Ronaldinho?

Also, if you've been watching the World Cup, you've probably seen this great commercial (different from the question below). Does anyone know what the song is?

NameThatTuneFilter: Song in this Adidas Ad?

I found this adidas ad over at YouTube (It's the one with the shoes running all over town).. The song is super catchy.. (and the ad isn't half bad either)..

Can anyone tell me what the song is?
