Finding others for video conference check-ins for self-employed

I'm a freelancer with plenty of ideas for what I should be doing to improve my business (and life in general), but I have a real hard time getting down to work without any kind of accountability or structure in my life. So here's what I'm thinking: Find 2 or 3 like-minded people and have brief daily check-ins via video conference to state our goals between now and our next session, and how we've done since our last session -- just keeping each other honest and on some kind of schedule. Where do I find people who would like to participate? [more inside]

Early 90s Flashback

I was recently officially diagnosed with ADHD by a great psychiatrist who spent a lot of time with me and seemed very serious about helping me. He ended up prescribing me Ritalin. This was very surprising, and I felt like I was transported back to the early 90s (which was the last time I heard the word actually spoken aloud). What are the possible benefits of Ritalin over Adderall, which may have led him to choose this? [more inside]

Keeping motivated when thrill of "new" is gone?

I get bored and lose interest in things so easily. This particularly hurts me when it comes to time management and doing the things that will develop my business over time. I get a spark of motivation and excitement when I discover a new system (hey, scheduling and mapping out long term tasks in GCal - neat!) or a new website (hey, Remember the Milk, I can jot down tasks before I forget them - very cool!) or new software (hey, I can't think of any right now, but - wow!). At first, I want to learn it, set it up and find excuses to use it, but it seems like that gets me about two weeks before I stop -- even if it actually made me feel good to use it! So, what to do? There are only so many shiny new toys out there, and I already have some really good ones that I know work. Do I just have to brute force myself to use the tools I have, or are there some tricks to keeping it at least somewhat enticing and interesting? [more inside]

ADD, Depression, and You!

How does someone know if a stimulant medication (adderall) is helping them the way it was intended to for ADD, or if they are searching for a reason to continue a substance that makes them feel good (aka addictive behaviors)? How to avoid multiple office visits for prescriptions?

I'm prescribed 30mg of Adderall XR for my adhd. I was diagnosed and prescribed it from the psychiatrist that my job's health insurance uses. He says he can only prescribe it to me one prescription at a time. My high co-pays are adding up and its becoming costly to have to go every time. My doc tries to help by giving me two scripts at a time (one with the correct date and one a month out) but I'm still shelling out a lot six times a year to get my prescribed medication. I completely understand that Adderall is abused in the US and there needs to be controls on how its dispensed. I wouldn't mind going every six months so he can check up on me and monitor my use of it. Usually our appointments are 15 min chats about my mood and any side effects I may be experiencing. I'm no MD but that hardly seems worth an in office visit. Has anyone else dealt with this issue? Is there a way around this?
