I quit my job a few months ago to go to school and I no longer have health insurance. I've been taking Vyvanse/Adderall for exactly 2 years (to the day, actually) and I am going to run out in about 2 weeks. Please help me through it. [more inside]
I've been taking Adderall XR for about a half a year, and it has made a tremendous difference in my life. The med, however, was recently put on the Prior Authorization list - which means that I now need to receive approval from my insurance before they cover it. My doc submitted an application, which I just found out was denied on the grounds that I don't have sufficient documentation of ADD. I took a test with my doc, and was denied again. What exactly do they want from me? [more inside]
I take Adderall for ADD, but am growing dissatisfied with it due to what feels like increasing tolerance and dependence, as well as a couple of secondary reasons. I want to talk to my doctor about switching to Provigil, and would like to hear from anybody who has any advice or experience to relate regarding the pros and cons of the two medications. Details within. [more inside]
I am traveling from US to Israel this week, and I am having trouble finding out if Adderall is legal there. Can I bring my meds to Israel? Can I fill a prescription there?
Thanks! My google search was fruitless.
I am currently on 40 mg of Vyvanse. I usually take it around 7 AM, and by 2 PM I am already starting to crash. By 5 PM I am basically braindead. I had a similar problem with Adderall XR. For people who have had similar problems: Has increasing the dose helped you at all? Did you supplement with a booster? Or was another medication (or quitting) the answer? [more inside]
I was diagnosed with inattentive-type ADD and prescribed Adderall a little over two months ago. It has been a mostly positive experience, and is definitely working well with my symptoms. However, in the past couple weeks I've been having trouble with the same dosage of Adderall working in different ways and to different degrees. I'm wondering if there is anything in my daily routine that I'm overlooking that could be causing this. [more inside]
I am trying to experiment (with my pdoc of course) with ADHD medication. Adderall works well for me, but not well enough. I am trying Concerta right now and I don't really like it. What can I do? [more inside]
I recently started on adderall for ADD-type issues, and I've got some questions about the effects it's having. I intend to bring them up with my psychiatrist when I see him next, but that won't be for a few weeks and I think it would still be valuable to get some outside perspective, especially from people with first-hand experience. A lot of this has to do with sexuality. Questions and details within. A bit long-winded. [more inside]
I work full time, 8-5, and I also go to school online, which means I start my academic work every day when I get off work. Thus, I need to take my prescribed ADD meds much later than what I would consider ideal. Of course, this makes it tougher to fall asleep. Help me! [more inside]
I am in my late 20's and have had Inattentive ADD/comorbid anxiety for as long as I can remember. I am considering an ADD medication (Adderall XR) for the first time. I am scared of the long-term effects of the drug, as well as afraid of getting addicted and becoming unable to function without the med. I would like to hear from people who have been taking Adderall long-term: How has it helped/change your life? Both positive and negative stories welcome. [more inside]
I have some questions about Adderall and tolerance. [more inside]
For someone who takes Adderall for ADD, will drinking acidic drinks (including say juice, soda, or homemade drink with apple cider vinegar) and/or taking vitamin C supplements mute or dull or interfere with the medication? Talking to pharmacist and googling has yielded some very mixed and confusing answers, and I'd love it if somebody knew enough to give a definitive answer.
I have recently been diagnosed with ADHD, at 22, and prescribed Ritalin. I am unsure to which extent it's supposed to be helping me, but I do notice subtle differences in my day to day life, like my place suddenly not getting messy anymore. While I notice I managed to get more done (school work) since starting it, I still have a hard time sitting down and just going ahead with projects. I study graphic design, so things are usually quite mental, and need time to develop, but I am wondering if it's really helping? Occasionally it feels like it's slowing me down too much. Should I suggest my psychiatrist to try another drug? (Adderall is not an option, I am curious about dexedrine)
Is it standard operating procedure for psychiatrists to give urine tests while using Adderall to treat ADHD? [more inside]
I'm shocked and embarrassed to admit how quickly my life has begun to fall apart after discontinuing ADHD treatment. Is anyone aware of a physician in the greater Columbus or Cleveland metropolitan areas that A) is not opposed to specifically prescribing Adderall for ADHD - please, no "you don't need medication!" pep talks or alternate treatment recommendations, B) is sufficiently reasonably priced that an uninsured person could afford treatment, and C) is accepting new patients without long waiting periods? Your help is sincerely appreciated.

I was prescribed 5mg Adderall twice daily, and the nausea is killing me. Will this go away? [more inside]
I am abusing Adderall and need help. I have found a Narcotics Anonymous meeting in my area and am going to attend the next one, but I think I need more help. [more inside]

37 y.o. with ADHD here, diagnosed a few years ago. Ritalin works a bit, but gives me headaches. Dexadrine doesn't seem to do a whole lot except make sleep impossible (hence the 6am post). My psychiatrist says that if I don't tolerate those, I won't tolerate the others, either. Are there any non-prescription supplements or medications that might help and have some kind of hard evidence to support their efficacy? [more inside]
Please help me lower the cost of my prescription meds. [more inside]
Lost my health insurance, & the last 6 months of fighting my ADD w/out Adderall has started to effect my job performance. Monthly doctor appts to get the rx are $150, & Adderall w/out insurance is $90. I can't afford $240/month! Plus there's the Adderall shortage everyone's experiencing. I've seen a lot of OTC pills claiming to mimic Adderall, but are there any that work? [more inside]
We're all suffering from the Adderall Shortage of 2011 - even those of us who actually have legit prescriptions (raises hand!) whose work is starting to suffer as a result.
I've read a lot of articles and still have no idea why the shortage exists - and at this point, I don't really care. I just want to know who to complain to. What agency/person/organization would be most "helpful" after receiving my thoughts on this shortage?
This is in NJ, but it's a nationwide shortage, so, I'm sure other people need to complain too.
Shire pharmaceuticals has stopped manufacturing adderall & the generic version (amphetamine salts) as I cannot find it at any pharmacy anymore. What is the best alternative? Usually I can only afford generic. [more inside]
Do people write differently when they're on Adderall? Do you
write differently when you're taking Adderall? I am interested primarily in those taking it as directed rather than using it for studying, but I'm interested in any perspective. [more inside]

This morning, I accidentally took too much of my (legally prescribed) Adderall — 40mg rather than 20. This is still a fairly low dose and I'm not worried about health consequences, but I sure do feel like flaming dogshit. Suggestions? [more inside]

I'm not a pharmacist or organic chemist or pharmacologist, so I'm confused by the difference between methamphetamine and Adderall, and the side effects it may wreak on the body long-term. I've tried to figure it out using Google, but it's all sort of over my head, and I don't know if the people on those chatboards are reliable sources of information. [more inside]
I've been diagnosed as ADD/ADHD by 3 separate professionals through my life and on medication to treat it for nearly a year. The meds don't work, and I've been on a lot of them (i.e. Ritalin, Vyvanse, Strattera and now Adderall.) How can I give myself a swift kick in the butt to become a productive, organized individual? Here in the US, I'm prescribed Adderall for ADHD. This summer, I'll be spending 2+ months doing a mentally taxing project in rural Guatemala. Help me figure out how to make this work. Bonus points for any
first-hand knowledge about ADHD treatment in Guatemala — legal aspects, practical aspects, whatever — or for any good sources to consult on the subject. [more inside]

After twenty-something years without an ADHD diagnosis, I started taking Adderall XR about a year ago and it completely turned everything around with zero side effects. Now I live in a country where I can't get it (drug laws). The only medication available is Ritalin, but Ritalin makes me feel like crap and I doubt I could take it long-term.
So then, how does one deal with adult ADHD without drugs, especially if they've already had such spectacular success with them? I know YANMD, but even if I could find a decent English-speaking psychiatrist here I get the feeling ADHD isn't something that's taken very seriously outside the West. [more inside]

MiseryFilter: I have had a dry cough for about 6 weeks that has gotten increasingly worse. I am seeing an allergy specialist as I already know I have allergies. For the last two weeks, I have been on Nasonex, Singulair, and Allegra. Most nights I cannot lie down due to coughing and have to sleep propped up on the couch.
I have been doing the neti pot for the last few days, but it's not like tons of stuff is getting washed out of my sinuses when I do it. It just seems to go in one side and out the other. Then I resume coughing a little whlie later. Also, they started me on Flovent as of Monday. I think it's maybe starting to help, but not sure. [more inside]

I was recently diagnosed with adult ADHD (inattentive type) and put on Adderall. I have very, very mixed feelings about this -- hopeful, because it seems to really be helping me in multiple areas of my life, but also anxious that it is a crutch that I can't use forever. Does anyone have any insight or anecdotes to help me either (1) feel better about being on Adderall, or (2) come up with an alternative plan to manage my issues? [more inside]
I have Adult ADD -- and about 5 years ago, I briefly got a huge benefit from taking Adderall. But that was before I had high blood pressure. [more inside]
