For someone who takes Adderall for ADD, will drinking acidic drinks (including say juice, soda, or homemade drink with apple cider vinegar) and/or taking vitamin C supplements mute or dull or interfere with the medication? Talking to pharmacist and googling has yielded some very mixed and confusing answers, and I'd love it if somebody knew enough to give a definitive answer.

I have recently been diagnosed with ADHD, at 22, and prescribed Ritalin. I am unsure to which extent it's supposed to be helping me, but I do notice subtle differences in my day to day life, like my place suddenly not getting messy anymore. While I notice I managed to get more done (school work) since starting it, I still have a hard time sitting down and just going ahead with projects. I study graphic design, so things are usually quite mental, and need time to develop, but I am wondering if it's really helping? Occasionally it feels like it's slowing me down too much. Should I suggest my psychiatrist to try another drug? (Adderall is not an option, I am curious about dexedrine)

I'm shocked and embarrassed to admit how quickly my life has begun to fall apart after discontinuing ADHD treatment. Is anyone aware of a physician in the greater Columbus or Cleveland metropolitan areas that A) is not opposed to specifically prescribing Adderall for ADHD - please, no "you don't need medication!" pep talks or alternate treatment recommendations, B) is sufficiently reasonably priced that an uninsured person could afford treatment, and C) is accepting new patients without long waiting periods? Your help is sincerely appreciated.

37 y.o. with ADHD here, diagnosed a few years ago. Ritalin works a bit, but gives me headaches. Dexadrine doesn't seem to do a whole lot except make sleep impossible (hence the 6am post). My psychiatrist says that if I don't tolerate those, I won't tolerate the others, either. Are there any non-prescription supplements or medications that might help and have some kind of hard evidence to support their efficacy?

Lost my health insurance, & the last 6 months of fighting my ADD w/out Adderall has started to effect my job performance. Monthly doctor appts to get the rx are $150, & Adderall w/out insurance is $90. I can't afford $240/month! Plus there's the Adderall shortage everyone's experiencing. I've seen a lot of OTC pills claiming to mimic Adderall, but are there any that work?

We're all suffering from the Adderall Shortage of 2011 - even those of us who actually have legit prescriptions (raises hand!) whose work is starting to suffer as a result.
I've read a lot of articles and still have no idea why the shortage exists - and at this point, I don't really care. I just want to know who to complain to. What agency/person/organization would be most "helpful" after receiving my thoughts on this shortage?
This is in NJ, but it's a nationwide shortage, so, I'm sure other people need to complain too.

I'm not a pharmacist or organic chemist or pharmacologist, so I'm confused by the difference between methamphetamine and Adderall, and the side effects it may wreak on the body long-term. I've tried to figure it out using Google, but it's all sort of over my head, and I don't know if the people on those chatboards are reliable sources of information.

After twenty-something years without an ADHD diagnosis, I started taking Adderall XR about a year ago and it completely turned everything around with zero side effects. Now I live in a country where I can't get it (drug laws). The only medication available is Ritalin, but Ritalin makes me feel like crap and I doubt I could take it long-term.
So then, how does one deal with adult ADHD without drugs, especially if they've already had such spectacular success with them? I know YANMD, but even if I could find a decent English-speaking psychiatrist here I get the feeling ADHD isn't something that's taken very seriously outside the West.

MiseryFilter: I have had a dry cough for about 6 weeks that has gotten increasingly worse. I am seeing an allergy specialist as I already know I have allergies. For the last two weeks, I have been on Nasonex, Singulair, and Allegra. Most nights I cannot lie down due to coughing and have to sleep propped up on the couch.
I have been doing the neti pot for the last few days, but it's not like tons of stuff is getting washed out of my sinuses when I do it. It just seems to go in one side and out the other. Then I resume coughing a little whlie later. Also, they started me on Flovent as of Monday. I think it's maybe starting to help, but not sure.

I was recently diagnosed with adult ADHD (inattentive type) and put on Adderall. I have very, very mixed feelings about this -- hopeful, because it seems to really be helping me in multiple areas of my life, but also anxious that it is a crutch that I can't use forever. Does anyone have any insight or anecdotes to help me either (1) feel better about being on Adderall, or (2) come up with an alternative plan to manage my issues?
