I have moderate acne, and it's not responded to alternative treatments for years. But nervous to take the Accutane prescribed to me, and wondering if I should pay up for the expensive tests to see if I have PCOS. [more inside]
I get a pimple on my chin every month just before my period. It's kind of hard. It leaves a dark mark behind, and the back of my head hurts if I touch it(weird, I know!). I know that the basic mechanism is hormones, but I don't understand why these hormones only affect my chin and I don't understand why there's always exactly ONE and never more than one or it never skips a month. Do all my pores get together and vote for one pore to be the host? How does this work? [more inside]
I recently started on Jolessa birth control and the main side effect seems to be a lot of non-cystic acne on my face. How should I fight it? [more inside]

I am a 27 year-old woman and have had acne for the past two and a half years. I have tried an oral antibiotic and two prescription creams (all very expensive and ineffective), and am looking for other routes to treatment. I am looking for any holistic remedies, such as products to use topically, and dietary and lifestyle measures. Any advice is welcome and appreciated. [more inside]
Generic Benzaclin for acne works but no longer covered by insurance. Antibiotic alone still covered. Might that work alone or with OTC B.Z.? [more inside]
About 2 weeks ago I tried a new makeup primer from ELF Cosmetics and after 1 day of use it turned my skin into a nightmare. You'd think that, given my history, I'd know better than to try something new, but Pinterest can be very persuasive. As of today, my skin is still extremely broken out, covered in red blotches and scaly patches, and flaking like no tomorrow. What can I do to heal my poor face? [more inside]
I am in my late 20's and I am starting to notice my pores getting bigger, I have some acne scars, I am starting to notice small brown spots on my cheeks and have fine lines around my eyes. I have been getting Botox since I was 24 (crows feet), I have had 1 microdermabrasion, and I have had a couple facials (which felt like a waste of time). I would like to try some type of chemical peel but am nervous because I have sensitive skin. Also, since my early 20's I have developed Cystic acne around my chin before my period, which are the worst, and last for a couple of weeks. Anyways, I am looking for some advise on ways to keep my skin looking young, healthy and fresh.
I'd like to switch from creme/lotion facial moisturizers to something oil-based. Any recommendations? [more inside]
I'm 23 years old and I have had rough tiny bumps all over my face for a few years now. They are not really acnes because they do not go away and are skin-colored. I have a good skin care routine, which I cleanse and moisturize daily and I use a Clarisonic about 3 times a week. Nothing seems to help my skin be smooth. I'm not sure if my condition should be seen by a dermatologist or not since it's not really a major problem. Should I go to a dermatologist's office or a cosmetic skin care center that offers chemical peels and microdermabrasions? Here's a picture of how my skin looks.
I've managed to reach my mid-30s with no acne and suddenly it's AcneTown all over my face. Can you help me clear it up? [more inside]
I have developed a cystic acne that I'd like to get rid of before the weekend. My skin is fine otherwise, and although I have not tried the cortisone injection before, I've heard good things about it. However, despite calling many doctors, I cannot seem to find a dermatologist who would perform this in Paris. (It seems to be a very uncommon procedure in France). Does anyone have experience with this in Paris?
I'm about to try a generic equivalent of Retin-A for acne, and I am nervous. "Purge phase"? Peeling? Redness? Am I in for straight-up Walking Dead Face before I see results? Personal experiences, insights and best practices would be greatly appreciated.

They're not zits, but they turn into zits. What do I do about them?? [more inside]
So I've looked at some previous questions, and since they're not quite what I'm looking for, I'm hoping the hive mind can help me out. I've always had somewhat sensitive skin, particularly on my shoulders and back. When it's hot out, I tend to get irritated hair follicles and something akin to cystic acne (big welts), particularly in areas where I sweat. Changing t-shirts extra often helps a bit, but only so much. Now that I'm training for a marathon, it's so much worse. Weird random (possible rub spots?) on my legs, sides, and the regular trouble spots are just a mess. Any help is sorely appreciated!

I am an adult with low-moderate acne in the form of 1-2x weekly zits on my face. I have been intrigued by reading about blue light and in particular BlueMD. Anyone with experience using blue light for non-cystic acne (or any sage words about whether it is hokum)?
Since switching birth control as an adult in my early thirties, I've started getting acne again on my face and back. Retin-A helps control, but does not eliminate pimples. Has IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) worked for you in similar circumstances? [more inside]
I have some redness and scarring on my face left over from old acne. I know there are colors which bring out other colors, and colors which do the opposite, but I have no clue how this works. For example, a friend told me I shouldn't wear yellowish-green clothes with my complexion. What color clothes should I (a) wear to minimize the appearance of redness, and (b) avoid? (I'm white, male, brown hair, blue-green eyes, if any of that info helps.)
