I got my ears pierced more than 20 years ago. Within the last two years or so, every time I wear earrings, they start bothering me after six hours or so. When I take them out, the area around the piercing is swollen and hard but does not hurt if I push at it, and the actual piercing may have a bit of dried blood. Because of this, I haven't been wearing earrings more often than once every two or three weeks, so that may be contributing to the bleeding (I often have to poke and prod a bit to open the pierced hole all the way to get an earring through). What should I do to be able to wear earrings regularly again? [more inside]

I have a £75 gift voucher to spend in Liberty (the luxury department store in London). I don't buy a lot of stuff and when I do I don't really spend a lot of money, so since I have this opportunity I would like to buy something more luxurious / higher quality / aspirational than I would normally. I'm a guy, and there's nothing in particular I want or need, so up for consideration is anything from menswear, men's accessories, stationery, homeware, jewellery, furniture, random objects, etc. What would you go for? I've been struggling to find something to wear to an event next week that's nicer and more fun than business professional but definitely short of black tie (it's a non-red-carpet movie premiere). I've finally settled on this dress in black, but it looks a little plain on its own. I need help accessorizing! Particularly with choosing a necklace, but also: what shoes to wear? And what sort of purse-thing to carry?? Difficulties: I can't wear pumps/heels (though shoes with a stable, platform- or wedge-like, moderate heel are okay), and I have about a day and a half to buy everything in person.
Hot Boyfriend has a lot of scarves and (soft) hats and they invariably end up stuffed into and popping out of drawers. This is no way for a fashionable man to live! [more inside]
I need a new perfect wallet! Or at least a compromise. I carried an Original All-Ett for years and really liked how slim it was, while still allowing me to carry every card I might possibly need in any situation. Then I got a SlimFold Micro, and appreciated that it made me pare down the number of cards I could carry, and I liked the much smaller footprint that allowed me to carry it in my front pocket. But the Tyvek got really unattractively dirty and creased within a week (especially around the outline of the cards, because there's a lot of extra material that extends past the profile of the stack of cards and gets folded), and more than once I've found myself in a bind because I didn't have a particular card on me. So I need yet another new wallet, but I'm not sure I can go back to the huge footprint of the All-Ett. Any suggestions for a compromise wallet that's not quite so large but still lets me carry ~12 cards, without falling apart?
I don't want to find a good men's scarf. I want to find the best men's scarf. It should be non-wooly/scratchy, smooth to the touch, long enough and thick enough to be wrapped around the neck and draped over the front to create an insulation layer while waiting on cold train platforms and be in a "masculine" pattern/color that would suit most coats. It should also be durable and long lasting, I want a scarf you could wear without comment for 20 years and then be buried with it. Where is this scarf?

I'm learning to accessorize! I'd like to find some little mathematics-related accessories, kind of like the women's equivalent to a (relatively subtle) mathematics tie or cufflinks, that are work (think secondary school educator) appropriate. Simple and relatively understated is preferred. I'm also interested in clothing that would be work-place appropriate (not t-shirts!). I had a lot of fun with my regex skirt from XKCD a few years ago. My SO just got an iPhone 5! We are possibly the last people in the world to get smartphones (maybe second last) and have no idea what it can do. Also, his birthday is coming up. Can you suggest great apps or hardware that I might be able to get for him? He already has a case and headphones, and I don't think I want a docking station, though am ready to be convinced otherwise. His interests are hiking, climbing, gardening, cooking and photography. Thanks all!

I'm doing tons of walking lately, so I needed proper walking shoes. I've now got New Balance 928s, which fit the bill nicely; except, of course, they look awful (bulky, blocky, blinding white). Is there anything I can do to them to make them look awesome, or at least less like bland prescription shoes?

do you have a take on the quality/appeal of Mont Blanc for accessories like eyewear, wallets, etc? I seem to be running organically into recommendations for this brand as I find myself unable to afford the top makers in a category but I don't want to end up in a situation where I've gotten something that's neither reasonably priced nor extra-nice but ended up spending a chunk of money on no-man's land in between.
