I am an academic who studies, among other things, crowdfunding. I am trying to see whether backers on crowdfunding sites are overly drawn to projects that draw upon popular elements of internet culture, regardless of whether these things actually improve the chances of the project succeeding. For example, do crowdfunding pitches that include cat videos or 4chan memes or mentions of Teddy Roosevelt do better than those that don't do these things? I need help thinking of some of these signifiers of "internet cool." What would be most helpful are key words or phrases ("ceiling cat," "planking," etc.) that might appear in the description/pitch of a Kickstarter project that would indicate pandering to the internet culture. The data ends in mid-2012, so it would have to be before that period. Social science needs your help!
