The band uses Ableton Live for backing tracks (drummer uses a click track - metronome).
From the arrangement view (Live's VSTs are used also) is there a way to place video in a track and have it stream from a Macbook
while the audio streams to a soundcard?
If not, what is the easiest way to play videos in sync with the backing tracks?

Looking for a DJ controller that includes a soundcard for under $200. Ideally, it will be compatible with Traktor 2 and have bass/mid/treble controls.

I'm a drummer in an indie-rock band with a 5-piece kit who is looking to expand my setup to include a drum sampling pad. I want something that has unique percussion sounds (not just cheesy electronic beats), built-in effects, plenty of storage space to upload my own samples, and the ability to record and loop live drumbeats. Any advice?

Is there some legitimate way to get discounts for software like Ableton Live or Photoshop? I was thinking I could take some online courses and get an educational discount this way. Any suggestions for such courses? Or other suggestions?

Ableton Live for beginners: This weekend I'm going to have a couple of days where I get to play with someone's copy of Live, which looks like a very cool piece of software. I'm hoping to make the most of this chance but (a) the last time I made electronic music I programmed SID registers by hand in 6510 assembler in the 80s, and (b) don't know diddly about Live, oh yes, and (c) I don't know diddly about music, either. Is there a decent guide -- in print or online -- that would help me sit down in front of the thing and maybe plink out a couple of really awful songs?

I'm making a sort of a jukebox using Ableton Live, and I have some fairly complex and specific needs for launching scenes. I thought I had the entire thing solved a few months ago, but now I can't figure out what I was thinking!

I use ableton to create mashup mixes for friends as a bit of fun and would like to introduce some custom drums and beats to aid transition from track to track similar to girl talk, eclectic method, diplo etc. to take my mixes to the next level.
Ideally i would like some suggestions for the following
1)Where to find the drum patterns for ableton that are similar to that Girl talk uses (these are usually very hip hop type arrangements)
2) What drum pack/drum sounds i should be using and where i can find/buy these
3) If any ableton premade packs exist that contain these sort of patterns and samples already

I record voice tracks with Ableton Live. No problem. But now, I want my singing to create MIDI tracks of the notes, on-the-fly (more of less). Is this currently being done? What must I do? RPM 2008 awaits.
