New-to-Me Creative Zen X-Fi (16GB) holds a charge fine - until I plug it into the computer. Then the battery does a ten-second Death Spiral and the unit shuts off, making loading tracks an immense / impossible chore. Resetting sees a healthy green battery again. I'm at my wit's end.

Can you help me find Zen short stories that would be easy for teens to digest? My children have really enjoyed tales like "Stone Soup", "Three Questions and
Zen Shorts by Jon J Muth but these have been read over and over and over to them since they were very young. They are getting older and craving more.

In Buddhist traditions that emphasize sitting meditation (thinking about Zen here, but curious about others too) how are people who are physically unable to maintain proper sitting posture expected/advised to meditate? I was curious in particular about those who had been disabled in some way (paralysis etc) and in historical answers to the question.

How do chemicals (alcohol and anti-depressant medication) impact meditation?
I am wondering if taking anti-depressants would impacts one's ability to meditate? I know dreams are impacted by taking anti-depressants, so does that mean that vivid dreaming (under the influence of seritonin re-uptake inhibitors) has no spiritual meaning whatsoever? (obviously those who believe in lucid dreaming should address this question). Please shed some light (even if just anecdotally) on the impact of taking these medications on one's ability to still the mind.

I'm really bad about not focusing on my current task, and hastily finishing whatever it is so I can move on to the next and perform it equally as poor. How can I learn to be more focused on -- and enjoy -- what I am currently doing, rather than spending that time looking ahead to the next project at the expense of doing the first well?

Any MeFites attend the SF Insight meditations at the Unitarian church on Franklin? Or any Dharma Punx here? Anyone have experience with a more strictly zen sangha in the city?

Do you know of any good online Buddhist discussion forums? I used to frequent
e-sangha, but it's been down for some time. I prefer that it be diverse or at least inclusive of Zen.

I want to find popular songs with Zen/Buddhist themes, such as living in the moment, rejecting materialism, desire as suffering, non-attachment as freedom. The artists themselves need not be Buddhist and the entire song doesn't have to have a consistent theme. I know I'm using a loose interpretation of Buddhism. Any genre is fine; prefer pop/hip-hop. No chanting. Excerpted examples inside.

What exists out there that discusses Tao not in the context of self-help or meditation but rather how its philosophies bear on practical aspects of art, scientific thinking, skills requiring concentration, etc? Case in point: it encourages an open mind and total awareness. I've read a good part of
Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance but it seems that's more about our relationship to technology. Related non-Tao items of interest are fine.

I read a Zen story years ago at a meditation center library. Can't remember the book/author. (might have had a quirky title? perhaps written by a contemporary Zen master?). The part I remember was about how to sweep and the uses of all the swept-up "trash"...

I recently lost the power adapter for my olde tyme Creative Nomad Zen NX. I'd like to just drive down to RadioShack and get a replacement, but I'm not sure what I need. The Nomad wants 5V, but it looks like RadioShack's adapters skip from 4.5V to 6V. Will I kill my player if I use one of those options?
