So I'm just starting Yoga and I have a problem: I'm too tall for standard mats. I'm 6'4" (76 inches, 193 cm). How do I find a long mat that I know is good quality? And how long is long enough, anyway? [more inside]

I'm looking for an equivalent to the You Are Your Own Gym body weight exercises app. I've been using the app for a couple of months now and I really like it - the exercises are explained in good detail and there is a good progression from very easy to challenging. There seem to be loads of apps available but I'm not sure which ones are any good. Which have you found useful?

Where can I find good yoga clothes for men? Mid-length pants and shirts that don't fall all over the place. My old Lululemon stuff was well-designed and held up wonderfully, but they don't seem to make any purpose-designed yoga clothes for men anymore. [more inside]

I need to develop a balanced daily workout for the next six months, specifically designed for limited and somewhat unusual spaces. Assume I have no access to traditional weights or fitness machines of any kind and that level ground and traditional cardio options will be at a premium. What 10 exercises can I do to approximate a whole-body workout? [more inside]

As I get older, I get creakier and I'm hoping yoga may be the answer. Can anyone recommend a class in south-east or east London that focuses mostly on the physical side of yoga and less on the meditative/spiritual aspects? Bonus points for suggesting a particular style that would suit me, a physically active late 30s male who swims and cycles regularly.

In Rupert Holmes' "Escape"
, there are a couple of lines that seem at odds with what I would call hippie culture, namely "If you're not into yoga" and "I'm not much into health food." Yet some of the other bits like "getting caught in the rain," "the feel of the ocean," and "making love at midnight in the dunes on the Cape" seem, to my more modern viewpoint, in line with hippie-esque ideals. So what's the deal? [more inside]

Where can I buy good-quality yoga clothes in the UK? My mum wants some for Christmas and I'd love your recommendations for comfortable yoga clothes for more mature women (say 60+). Basically she doesn't want skintight leggings or any obtuse logos, etc. She'd like darker colours (although 'a little bit of colour but not too bright' is ok). Bonus if the store is online and offers shipping. Thanks!

I have read on the internet many times that you can gain a few inches in "height" from doing yoga.
How exactly does this happen? (Just spine getting straighter, and me standing with better posture?)
Are there any actual measurements done on a sample of people before and after months of yoga to compare their height differential?
What is actually a reasonable expectation for an "increase in height"?
If my goal is yoga for height increase, which poses are the best to do?

I took an integral yoga class last night. Today, I am sore and achy -- I feel as bad as I did after taking my first boot camp aerobics class (which combined aerobics and weights and was super hard). I expected the kind of soreness you get when you've stretched a bit too much, or maybe the kind when you've walked further than usual, and your muscles feel open and a bit tired and maybe certain movements twinge a bit. Instead, I have a lot of deep muscle soreness, like I've been moving lots of heavy boxes, and I'm incredibly tired and headachy. Is this normal? [more inside]

Hola folks! I am located in WNY area near the Canadian border (willing to drive into Ontario for shoppin'!) and am hoping someone can guide me in the right direction for the right kind of pants. I am looking for Semi-Fitted Lower-waisted (I am short waisted but have serious hips - I HATE those fold-down waist ones with a burning passion) Yoga pants to wear for Yoga & Workouts that also are *not* a matte/cotton type texture. I have light coloured animals in my home and also am self conscious about wearing light colours...hence for the sake of my sanity I like my yoga pants to be a "slick" texture and black or another dark colour. I have a yoga fundraiser tomorrow at 5pm that I want something gay pride-ish for (like a t-shirt or yoga pants). I have a lot of gay friends that I could borrow a t-shirt from but I am traveling tomorrow so would be unable to meet up with anyone (and will be unable to shop tomorrow or get anything online by then). I have no rainbow stuff.
I am in Center City Philadelphia. I will be checking Athleta, Lululemon, City Sports, Gap, etc for rainbow
stuff, but I'd prefer something that expressly (like words) supports equality. All Google really tells me is gay-friendly stuff, gay reading (e.g. Giovanni's), etc. Does anyone know if any of those places would have slogan/pride t-shirts? Am I missing a HRC location or something else that would have something?

I'm looking for suggestions about strength- and endurance-building exercises -- general types or specific motions -- that will either engage my super-weak ankles and wrists in order to strengthen them or avoid using said weak bits entirely in order to avoid exacerbating the existing problems.
Preceding that, I am not even sure which route to take in the first place: activate/try to strengthen these weak areas, or avoid/leave well enough alone? [more inside]

I think I have the flu--or to be more precise, I think I am fighting the flu. But as usually happens, rather than straightforwardly getting sick and then getting better, I seem stuck in the early stage of not having terribly severe symptoms (congestion etc) but being exhausted, achy, and running a very low-grade fever on and off. This may go on for two weeks or longer. I rarely get "sick".
Given that people are most contagious in the early days of flu infection
, same with colds if that what it is
, does this mean that I am infectious for longer than most people? And based on your opinion on that, is it (a) a good idea for me to go to hatha yoga, (b) where there's an immuno-compromised (person who is doing or has recently completed chemo) person in my class?
