I own a 17" Macbook Pro and up until now, I have seen absolutely no need to take advantage of Boot Camp and install Windows on my Mac, but I recently ran into a program that I now use quite often and now I need to install Windows on my Mac. Its basically just to use this one program, but I'd like to keep the option open for PC gaming on the Windows side in the future. But it gets kinda complicated after that... [more inside]

Does anyone have any idea as to why a Macbook Pro or a laptop running WinXP could see a wireless network broadcast from an old Netgear (802.11b network) but two different laptops running Vista would not even see that the network exists? The SSID is being broadcast and while there is basic MAC address filtering being used, the Vista laptops don't even see that a network exists. Thanks.

I am having a weird problem with Foldershare. I was able to set everything up so that I can share a folder between my desktop and laptop (both are connected to the internet via an AirPort Extreme Base Station), but now when I sync it only goes one way -- from my desktop (iMac running OS X 10.4) to my laptop (running XP). Anything I fix on the mac shows up instantly on the laptop, but everything I fix on the laptop, or ghost p2p files I double click on the Mac, get caught in the queue and the status switches wildly between "queued" "all matches currently busy" "idle" and "listening" in the activity window on the mac and they are not visible on the xp laptop activity window. Also, all ports are reporting as blocked, despite my turning off the Mac firewall. I tried Foldershare support and they gave me the standard settings FS should operate with and told me to contact the manufacturer of the router. Applecare said the Airport doesn't block any ports. Any ideas? I googled and couldn't find anyone that was having this issue... Thanks in advance.

One thing I really like about OSX is the fact that when you have a jpeg on the desktop, you get a thumbnail preview. I run Windows XP, and I simply don't have the money for a new computer, let alone a Mac, though. Is there a program out there that will let me see thumbnail previews of jpegs on my desktop?
