Question. I upgraded to Parallels 5.0 to run a Windows Virtual machine on my Macbook. The problem is that icons on the Windows desktop show up on the Mac desktop and vice versa. How can I set up Parallels so that both desktops are separate identities that don't impact each other?

I'm getting a Blue Screen of Death on startup (Windows XP Pro) which says that the "problem" (whatever it may be) is being caused by a file called klif.sys. Googling around indicates it's a Kaspersky file, and I do indeed have their anti-virus software installed on my system. But I haven't found any solutions, and I can't get past this BSOD. Is there any hope for me? (More details inside.) [more inside]

My trusty 3-year old home office PC is starting to drag a bit, so I'm thinking about replacing it. Should I bite the bullet and buy something with Vista? Go with XP, even if it means not getting the latest Intel processor? Or, should I wait until Windows 7? [more inside]

My nice boss has tried to make everyone's life easier by putting work she wants us to do in subfolders with our names on them, in her inbox. We all have delegate read access to her inbox but can't see the subfolders when we go to it. What permissions does she need to set us (or what else does she have to do) in order for us to see the subfolders?

We'll I always thought of myself as a pretty dang good computer troubleshooter, but this one really has me stumped.
My Windows XP Pro SP3 rig takes 10 seconds to display items after clicking My Computer. There is no search light in the window when opening - just blank until things show up.
I have two hard drives listed. 6 Removable storage items, 1 mapped network drive, Mozy and 2 scanners listed.
I have tried many things to speed this up: Deleted the mapped network drive. Disabled WIA in services. Unplugged and uninstalled scanners. Tried various registry hacks for stopping things like checking network drives for scheduled tasks and other things found on the internet. All with no success to here I stand with hat in hand...asking for some help with this annoying problem.

I inherited a Memorex Dual USB card reader without a Windows XP driver. It's theoretically available at Memorex's web site but the links throw errors and when I tried to contact support, it generated a MySQL error (surprise, surprise). All of the various drivers sites I could find simply link back to Memorex's faulty site. Does anyone have this driver? It's probably in a form like "Dualreader.exe" rather than a zip archive.

I have a client system that has Vista preinstalled. The client wants XP Pro on the system.
It's a laptop, and the manufacturer (HP) only provides Vista drivers. Will the Vista drivers work in Windows XP?
Is there a hardware-equivalent HP system that is the Windows XP version that I can get drivers for to use on this one? It's an HP DV6235NR.
Thanks!

Acrobat Reader 5.0 and Acrobat Pro 7.0: can they both work at once? I just installed Acrobat Pro 7.0 on Windows XP, and now it's the default for viewing PDFs. Not only that, but even when I try to open AcroRd32.exe in the Acrobat 5.0 folder, it instead opens up Acrobat.exe from the 7.0 install. I need 7.0 for professional use, but 5.0 is so much faster for all of my other PDF-viewing needs. Is there any way that I can keep using 5.0 while 7.0 is installed? [more inside]

My wife's computer (running XP Pro SP2) has fallen victim to a piece of malware called "WinFixer 2005". None of the spyware or virus tools I've tried (Norton, MS AntiSpyware, AdAware) have even been able to find it, let alone remove it. Has anyone managed to get rid of this thing?
