I have Compiz/XGL working with GNOME, I just want it in KDE instead. I'm running Ubuntu Dapper on my laptop, and I just don't understand the config files. [more inside]

Looking for the component suggestions on what is the "sweet spot" as far as price/performance to build a cheap-ish desktop Linux PC. I've already got a great monitor and a KVM switch, just need to build the box. I'd like to keep the cost in the $500 range. [more inside]
