I switched over from my Windows desktop to a Mac, and I loved it. Unfortunately the Mac had to go back to it's original owner. I've tried various distros of Linux and none of them seem to satisfy my OS X addiction.
Can anyone recommend an OS that will tide me over until I can get the money for another Mac?

When I try running long complex macros in MS Word for OS X, created in Office for Mac OS 9.2, some of the macros are freezing/crashing. Perhaps even worse, the macros don't seem to be failing at the same point each time I try to run them. [more inside]

Three days ago, my Verizon DSL stopped working. Now it's working again but is quite slow. Any thoughts as to the cause? [more inside]

Is there an application (for OS X) that shows me who's trying to connect to my mac? Kinda like Little Snitch
, but for incoming connections? Netstat just gives me a huge list of everything happening on all ports, which is kinda useless to me.

I really like this scanner and it works fine under Windows and Mac OS 10.1 BUT for some reason HP decided not to update the driver for OS 10.3 so I am stuck with a scanner I like but can't use. Help a brother out? [more inside]

MacFilter: How do you make the screen fonts bigger in OS X? I've just upgraded my grandmother from a virus-infested WinME box to a 17" iMac G5. Unfortunately, the text is much too small for her to read clearly, and she wants her WinMe box back. I've changed the resolution down to 1024x768. Other than seriously degrading the image quality, it doesn't make the fonts much larger.
I'm comfortable working with the command line and editing plists, so don't hold anything back.
