Why can't I pick up and drag my Mac's desktop folders smoothly? Often they don't move at all, or they snap back as if on rubber bands when I move and drop them. [more inside]

I am using using the Windows Remote Desktop Client(1.03) on my mac (OS X 10.4.10 PPC G4) to connect to an iMac running Vista Business and am having some trouble. It freezes up but in time it will regain a connection. I have had the same problem when connection form other macs. Any clues... Thanks in advance.

Is there any way to have desktop icons in OS X sit on the left side of the screen instead of the right? I can move them to the left side, but the grid makes it so I can't sit the icons right against the left side - there's a huge gap, instead.
