Is there a website where I can (legally or otherwise) watch the France v Ireland World Cup Qualifier Playoff? Should Ireland qualify, me and three mates are going to South Africa for a month to watch Ireland's three group matches and then a match from each stage including the final. Woot.

I'm in Australia and we don't get that match live except on pay channel which I can't access.

Where can I find out which World Cup qualifier matches are being televised, on what channels, and when? I don't know why it's so incredibly hard to find out which matches are freely viewable. Not just world cup, even, but any matches. I understand they want to make many of them only available via premium packages and pay-per-view, but jesus. Is there a succinct, user-friendly clearinghouse for this sort of information?

I'm responsible for providing music for a local soccer tournament styled after the World Cup. It is a celebration of the various cultures of the immigrant communities here, and I'd like to play as much music from the participating countries as possible. Can you help? I have asked the team captains to help out, but I don't want to rely on them as they have many other responsibilities between now and the weekend. The countries represented in this year's tournament are Columbia, Macedonia, Ecuador, Ireland, Brazil, Iraq, Jamaica, Guatemala, Iran, Liberia, Albania, Togo, Ghana, and El Salvador.

It's non-profit and I'm a volunteer committee member, so free music would be wonderful. Music available via Amazon, iTunes, and emusic would otherwise be preferable because I have accounts on those sites already.

Name of the 80s soccer arcade machine?

Does anyone remember the name of the 80s soccer coin-op arcade machine? It was of a similar size to a Gauntlet box, was up to four player and was a world cup type tournament. Sort of cartoon-y / manga-lite type of players; and my overriding memory of it is the scissor / bicycle kick. If it then exists in a PC/PS2/ROM collection so much the better! Thanks all.

Has anyone used Setanta's broadband service before? I find myself in the unhappy position of being unable to watch most of the RWC 2007 because the NA cable carrier, Setanta, is not available through my cable provider. Rogers SportsNet is only carrying games in which Canada is playing, and although the local sports bar carrying the games is wonderful, I don't think I want to spend that much time in a bar.

The options, then, are limited to waiting 24 hours to watch games or buying the Setanta broadband service for US$149/year (it would be US$10/game to do it PPV).

So - has anyone used their service? Is it reliable and likely to be reasonable considering I have a good DSL connection at home?

Where can I watch the Cricket World Cup Final this Saturday in Westchester? Hopefully near White Plains, because I don't want to have to go into NYC. (Failing that what are some places in the city that will be showing the game?) (I know about 8 Mile Creek, but I'd be a little nervous supporting Sri Lanka in an Australian pub when that's who we're playing against...)

Flying to DC, taking camcorder and gear. Good places to watch World Cup in DC near K St. & 9th? AND What common brick n' mortar retailers sell padded camcorder bags that aren't absurdly expensive? Flying to DC next week and want to know some places within walking distance of my meetings where a bunch of us can slip away and see the World Cup games. Lots of seating, lots of TVs, definitely showing the games. This is maybe 6 blocks northeast of the White House.

And I'm taking a nice video camera and associated gear there with me. The old camera bag is falling apart. I just went to a pro camera/video store to get another one and they're crazy expensive. Like $230-300! That's nuts. It's just nylon and padding and zippers. I'm flying out early next week and don't have time for a web order to ship. So are there any common brick n mortar retailers that sell padded equipment bags that are more reasonably priced? I was expecting something more like $50 - $80. Does that exist? I'm hoping this pro store was just carrying premium stuff and that plain 'ol stuff exists out there. There's no shortage of duffel bags out there, but padded ones intended for delicate equipment seem less common.

I want to watch this Friday's (June 30, 2006) Argentina vs. Germany World Cup soccer match with other Argentineans in Los Angeles. Where can I do this? My Mom's out of town, my Dad lives far away and I don't really know any other Argentineans. I don't really have very much money to spend on a special closed circuit viewing of the match. Is there an Argentine sports bar or place in Los Angeles that I can go watch the game at? I want to yell and celebrate with my people.

How is a GOLAZO! different from a GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL? I've been watching the Univision coverage of the World Cup, which has been far better than the bad video and terrible commentators of ESPN. However, my knowledge of Spanish is sketchy at best -- I can order a beer and ask where the bathroom is.

During the England-Sweden game, Joe Cole unleashes a shot that deflects off the Swedish keeper and into the goal. The Univision commentator normally screams "GOOOOOOOOOOOOL!!" repeatedly after a score, but this time he screamed "GOLAZO! GOLAZO!" repeatedly while "GOLAZO!" flashed on the screen.

So, what makes a "GOLAZO!" different from a "GOOOOOOOOOOOL?" Someone please enlighten this gringo.

WorldCupFilter: Where can I watch the 7am PDT games in San Francisco? Some information searching has turned up this but I think both Farolito and Steps of Rome, as colorful as they both are in their own way, will be too small and crowded.

Are there any other lesser-known places/bars that are opening up early for the 7am matches. Mission district would be ideal. I'm particularly thinking about the Portugal-Mexico game here...

What exactly is the "magic spray" used by soccer/football medics? I'm an American who is just really watching soccer for the first time. When a player gets injured, the medics have an aerosol spray they use on the injury that seems to help the pain. The ABC/ESPN2 commentators have referred to it as "the magic spray." I've spent over an hour on Google attempting to find out what the magic spray is and what it does, but, I just keep finding references to "magic spray" and "magic injury spray," but no details. So, here I am. Anyone able to enlighten a soccer-ignorant American? Thanks. :)

What's the best way to follow the World Cup live on my Blackberry? I have a BB 8700c, and want something a little nicer than BBC Sport's "Live Coverage" (slow, text only, heavily delayed). Something like Yahoo's Matchcast would be nice, but I don't want to get an SMS message every time someone takes a dive. Any ideas for something a little more active?

I don't want to hear Brent freaking Musburger call World Cup games. Any way I can hear British commentators calling the games on separate audio while watching on my tv? For me, the only proper way to watch pro soccer games is with British commentators. Spoiled by EPL, I guess. I just feel like we don't have enough of a soccer tradition for our sportscasters to call it well. Even with the former national team guys, it just isn't the right flavor for me.

I want to watch World Cup games on my tv on mute while hearing an English commentator crew call the game via some other audio source. I don't have any BBC tv channels and I don't have Sirius or XM radio. All I've got is the internets. I've looked through the BBC sites online and haven't found any feeds. Know of any? Know any way to do this? I did hear a somewhat Brit team call a game on Sunday, but I'd like to get something like that for every game. Whatchoo got?

How can I follow the World Cup live from my computer at work? I don't want to miss out! I have to work during most of the matches for the World Cup. I can take a long lunch here and there for some games, but I can't really take time off to watch every match live. Schade. I know 4 years ago, Yahoo offered live webcasts online for each match, but I've seen nowt about it for this time around. The FIFA Worldcup scoreboard seems to be a live feed for scores, but I want at least the audio. My google-fu has failed me, and I figured asking here is worth a shot.

Thanks to advice here on the green, I have sorted out my transportation logistics for getting to the World Cup. Before and after the Paraguay vs. Trinidad game, I will be visiting Paris, Florence, and Madrid for a few days each. Where should we stay? I don't mind paying $200-$300 a night. Just looking for some nice hotels in good locations for people who don't speak the local languages.

Is there any live streaming video for World Cup matches? I've gotten spoiled over the last few years by MLB.tv - every game, when I want to watch it; complete games and highlights archived for my perusal when I want them, and so on.

Does anyone know if the same sort of thing will be offered anywhere for the World Cup? I know I can hear the games on XM, and I'm sure that I can watch highlights after the games, but does anyone know of any site that's streaming live video so I can watch matches at work? If not, I'll just TiVo 'em all, but that will really clutter up my evenings - and no doubt annoy Mrs. pdb. Anybody have a better idea?

Already established brilliance is no good as you'll have to pay for it, so I'm looking for just-off-the-radar sure fire winners. i chose Ronaldhino last time around and felt mighty smug, a repeat of that would be nice.

I am headed to World Cup for the Trinidad vs. Paraguay game. I will be flying into London from Bermuda. I am planning on heading to Germany for the game, and then heading to Italy for a few days, and then to Madrid for a few more, ultimately going back to London and then onto Bermuda. What is the best / cheapest way to get to these countries once I am into London. Should I fly, take a train? Use a ticket broker like AirTreks. Look at RyanAir??
