Freedom's just another word....

I'm 32, have $60K in the bank, no debts, few personal attachments, and mad computer programming skills. I would like to move to another country for a year or two, where I can live economically off my savings, improve my programming skills, and start a number of web/software projects that will hopefully be the Next Big Thing. Where should I go? [more inside]

Help an ignorant American become aware of world issues, politics, and all things relevant.

Recently I have come to the conclusion that I am an extremely ignorant American. I know very little about American politics and world issues and politics. I've been living in my safe little American bubble for 18 years and I want to get out! I want to get educated but it's overwhelming..where should I start? Textbooks (but should I bother reading an American textbook?), websites, blogs, essays, CNN, BBC, Google? I also want to be aware of things people think Americans are usually ignorant of, and I would like to learn little things about cultures that aren't in guidebooks. Advice on WoW files not copying into external drive?

I plan to return to playing World of Warcraft. However, I need to keep the game on an external hard disk, or at least temporarily transfer it from the computer's drive to that disk frequently. When I played before, the files (install files or the installed game) would not copy to the external drive, although I have never had any such problems with a non-WoW file. I am thinking of getting an install CD for the game, so that instead of transferring from the computer to the external drive, I can just erase and reinstall. Problem is, I would need to reinstall all patches each time I did that. Does anyone have any ideas about why the external disk doesn't like WoW or how I can get around this?

Books on Hitler - Nazi Germany

I just finished reading Hunting Eichmann and am wondering if any MeFites could recommend any other popular nonfiction books on Nazi Germany, Hitler, war criminals, etc. I don't do huge tomes well (400 pages or less!). The only other books I have read are MAUS and Explaining Hitler. Thanks for your input. So much out there...don't know where to begin. Probably the more well known the better as they may be available at my library.
