Please help a disgruntled secretary before she goes postal.

I'm a legal secretary at a Big Law Firm, and was previously assigned to two attorneys, Sam and Sarah. Because my workload was light, I accommodated each of Sarah's requests as best I could (Sam is every secretary's dream, and requests very little assistance). To my own fault, I spoiled Sarah, enabled her laziness, and now find myself stuck in a hole. I've been assigned a new attorney, Scott, who is both new to the firm and has a large docket. My workload has increased substantially - Sarah is used to getting her way, and Scott has deadlines coming out of his ears. I need advice on how to get a couple points across to Sarah and Scott. What is my management philosophy?

Employability Filter: Management Philosophy? Huh? I have an interview next week for a job I would really like to be offered...and they've told me they're going to ask me to articulate my management philosophy. I have never been in an official "management" position before and as such I've never had to articulate a philosophy about it. I have sort of a set of rules that I go by in the manage-y stuff that I do every day (keep people informed, set reasonable and clear goals, make people understand that there are consequences to actions, etc.), but I'm not entirely sure what the accepted way is of articulating these as a philosophy. Can someone who knows more about this sort of thing help a gal out?

How dumb should my resume go?

I've been a professional musician, music entrepreneur, and music educator for nearly 10 years (I'm in my mid-twenties). I have a day job in public school teaching for the fall, but I need a job in the "in between" - ie the next 6ish months. However, because my resume is very heavily music biz and music influenced, I'm having a hard time getting taken seriously in any regular retail or restaurant job interviews. I've tried dumbing down my resume with decent results, but do I need to go dumber to actually get a job? [more inside]

Lost My Job Cause I Got Sick

Did this happen to you? Went out sick, my bosses boss replaced me within a week, replacement broke into my office and removed all my stuff. HR said they would find me a comparable position in the company when I return. After 4 weeks I’m ready to return with a doctor’s note ready for full duty and they don’t have a job for me! They’re not telling me anything else. YANML but do I need one? I’m a single parent of a teenager in NYC. Thanks. Throwaway: NervisPervis@gmail.com

How do I stop thinking about my job all the time

How do I stop thinking about work all the time? I started a new job a few months ago, and for the most part, it's okay. It's not the greatest, and it's not something I can see myself doing long term, but still, it's okay. The problem is that the job is much more stressful and demanding than any I've had before. I think I'm handling it pretty well; I finish projects on time, I fulfill my responsibilities, and my boss is happy with me, but I find myself thinking about work ALL the time, and I really need that to stop.
