I have severe email anxiety and it is having repercussions for my work. I'm not sure what to do. [more inside]
My academic and professional references have asked me to keep them informed of what jobs I'm applying to, both so that they have a heads-up, and so that they can let me know if they've been called. I haven't been very good at doing this consistently because I don't know how to phrase that email. [more inside]

Looking for sample business emails to improve my writing skills. The resources I found are typically for writing to clients or customers. I am looking for sample emails that one writes mostly internally within their own company. For example an email one would write to make a suggestion, disagree with something, ask for status, share an idea, remind someone politely, coach someone etc (Common business scenarios). Not looking for emails to win business or sell anything. Would appreciate if you could share web links or books (preferably the ones available at amazon.com). Also, I would like examples and not a resource that just gives guidance.
At work I'm using a Macbook Pro with OS X 10.7.4, running Outlook 2011. Today, I have to ship off this computer to get an upgrade and security update, and they will be wiping out the contents of the hard drive. They've left us very minimal instructions to back up any files we need. For me, the absolute most important thing is having access to all of my old emails and their attachments. So, QUESTION: how do I backup all of my emails in Outlook so that I'll be able to access them on my newly-wiped computer? Where are email files stored on my computer? How can I back up the attachments on the old emails? How do I avert total disaster?

How do I win friends and influence people when I don't know what they look like? My new job requires me to manage client projects remotely. Most of my time with clients is spent either in conference calls, one-on-one phone calls, or communicating through email and Basecamp. I usually have no idea what these people look like. As a project manager I need to keep the client moving towards the finish line by making decisions quickly and getting things done on time. My question is two fold: 1) How do I motivate and influence a team that works for another organization?, and 2) How do I best do this being remote? I am looking for techniques and tools that will help me be an effective, remote, 3rd party project manager. If it matters I work for a Software as a Service company. My clients are implementing our software on their websites. The client may or may not have a dedicated project manager. Help me drive things forward!

I have my full name as a domain name, and I'd like to start using it as my email address on my resume and for work purposes. Should my email address be joey@joeyshabadoo, j.shabadoo@joeyshabadoo, admin@joeyshabadoo or something else? And does it make any kind of difference, or am I just overthinking@plateofbeans?

I've been working six months now at a small ad agency in a medium sized city (70,000). I come from big agency experience. I'm an art director. We have 8 people total, all great people to work with. I like the change from big city to smaller city. There are a lot of plus-es to it. Just recently, we landed a big account. They're looking for a redesign of their brand and ad campaign with internet, non-traditional, advanced website... the works. Whereas most of our job lists for clients number in the few, this one starts with well more than a dozen with several of them as very big projects and with very tight deadlines (in the next six weeks). Skipping to the question, I've been asked by the creative director to step back and stop treading on toes via email. More inside... [more inside]
