How do I get coworkers to spend quality time with me? I am starting a new gig as a business analyst, and will be trying to convince strangers that they should meet with me to tell me about their jobs, needs, and requirements. After that I have to also get them to review the documentation I will create. What tactics have / would you use to get quality results from people who are busy and don't know you from Adam?

I'm sure this question will not make me the most popular student at the dance, but is there a way to identify (via IP) machines running BitTorrent clients within an internal network (ie. work)? My company has around 50 employees, and the old, "Please don't torrent at work" doesn't seem to be doing much good anymore. It brings our email and web browsing to a near standstill, and dropping by the "usual suspects" is not only tiresome, but doesn't seem to find all the sources of traffic any longer. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

I tend to work, or think about business, a lot. I'm involved in two separate successful businesses that I started. And I have ideas for more. Even all my hobbies are 'productive' activities where you're learning something new or creating something, rather than pure recreational activities like watching TV, hanging out, or reading fiction. Consequently, I haven't put enough value on my social life and meeting new people. I sometimes see that aspect of life as unproductive and not as valuable as other things I could be doing. It's not a great way to be and it's something I'd like to change. I'm looking for suggestions on how others have overcome this.

The owner of the privately held company that I work for has decided that he wants to give out equity in the company to a select number of employees. This isn't hugely valuable right now but could potential be extremely valuable if the company were to ever go public. I have been selected to be a part of this group as I am an Officer of the company. My share would be worth $5000 currently. I get a certificate, etc. The point of all this is to have employees personally invested in the company to affect the way they conduct themselves based on that personal investment rather than working for someone else's money they are working for their own. Over the next few months, I need to buy a lot of new clothes to bulk up my professional (woman's) wardrobe. I want everything I buy to fit well. Slacks, skirts, blazers need to be lined. I will not buy anything without trying it on first, so web and catalog shopping is out. I don't have the budget to buy this all at full price. What kinds of strategies can I employ to get the best deals possible? Are there specific stores I should be shopping in? Are there sales I should watch for? Are there specific dates, weekends or times of year when I can get the best deals? How can I find out about and obtain about great coupons and upcoming sales? [more inside]

I run a small local computer repair business. I have a website and i have acquired a DBA (assumed name) in the name that i use for my business. the problem is that my website, lets call it computer repair man for example, i own THECOMPUTERREPAIRMAN.com. the site without the word "the" infront of it is taken by someone else. If they havent trademarked "computer repairman" can I? Or if they were using it first without TM do they still have the rights to it? If they have already done it, can i trademark "the computer repairman"? How else can i protect my companies identity??

What's the best book out there on time management? I've yet to find one that does it all: explain the key concepts of time management, provide a proven framework for gaining control of your time, and identify common mistakes and helpful tips.

Extra points if it deals specifically with any of the following contexts: entrepreneurship, running a proprietorship or small business.
