Wordpress install problems

I've just installed wordpress and the theme I'm using won't display the checkbox buttons on the web form I've created. It has to do with the theme I've chosen because the buttons show up fine with other themes... any idea what the problem could be? Page in question is here. All of the list items should have a checkbox button beside them. The theme's name is Hemingway.

Intermittent 404 errors on Wordpress

I have my own Wordpress blog (hosted on Dreamhost) that's been driving me nuts. Intermittently I get a 404 error when posting or when moving through the admin pages. Simply reloading usually brings up the page. My Wordpress is up to date and so are my plugins. Besides the usual "disable all plugins and re-enable one-by-one" what other debug can I do? Help me with static page problems in Wordpress, please?

I am having a problem with my website, which is entirely run in Wordpress. I have WP set up to use a static home page. I followed the directions for creating a homepage and a page for posts to appear on. But if you look at the fluid page in question, for some reason the entire page is duplicated? I cannot for the life of me figure out what is going on there, I hope someone here can.

Venn Diagram with Links?

What Wordpress functions / features / plugins would organize this site?

Web developers: My university research lab wants to drag our website out of 1998 to a more easy-to-maintain and attractive design. We're tending towards using Wordpress, mostly for its large install base and plugin market. However our website won't follow the typical blog page/post format that Wordpress seems to support by default - it's more like a library with inter-related content types. Something like this is beautiful but probably out of our budget. Those with Wordpress experience, what default features should we try to use? Or is there a plugin / theme that does what we want already? [more inside]

I need to send an email to ~1500 people. How do I do it?

I'm launching a Kickstarter campaign tomorrow, and I have around 1500 people to email. How do I do this simply? I'd like the emails to come from my personal gmail address (and not DONOTREPLY@Mail1000.com or something), and if possible, I'd like to customize the emails such that they refer to each person by name (I have everyone in an excel file at the moment). If relevant for potential software/plugin solutions, I have a Mac and a Wordpress site on a good server.

Looking for a good, fast Wordpress host for 25k+ visitors/month

I have a Wordpress site with ~25k unique visitors/month, and I'm looking for a new host. I've been on Dreamhost for the last year, and have run into serious problems they can't seem to resolve (takes 60+ seconds for uploaded images to appear in Wordpress's media manager, any non-cached content has a 3 second time-to-first-byte). So I'm looking for a webhost that's fast, reliable and ideally, cooperates with a CDN like Cloudflare. Any suggestions?

Reverse engineering Wordpress functionality

I've been working on making a mirror of a site that we're using for another project. The original site is working fine, but a few of the custom tweaks that the former webmaster made aren't carrying over. Product / Category Description on page in Wordpress/Woocommerce

I have searched to the end of the earth trying to figure out how to do this but cannot find a thing that fits. I sell soap with various scents. The scent descriptions are written as "Category Descriptions" and "Product Short Descriptions". I would like to create a new page which lists all the scents with their descriptions. I'm okay with hard coding the name on the page (in fact, I hyperlinked the name to the category page) but would love to call the description from one of the two places it already exists so that three places need not be updated if a description is changed. I've looked at functions and shortcodes and just can't make it fit. I'm sure I'm missing something. I have Canvas (child theme). Any thoughts are highly appreciated and I will be forever grateful! Is it worthwhile registering/adding a domain name to my Wordpress blog?

I've been publishing a blog for a couple of years on Wordpress. Whenever I log into the dashboard, I'm informed that my domain "is available to be registered and added to your blog. (You can use it as your blog address.)" support page on domains is here. Are there any drawbacks to registering it? Will all the widgets work the same way? Will my SEO be effected? Will my wordpress followers still be subscribed? What else should I consider? It's a small blog updated with a couple lengthy posts each week; about 300 subscribers and 500 page views per day.
