What did the Nazis call the French Resistance? I know they called the individual resisters "terrorists," but what word did they use to describe the resistance as a whole? (Insurgency, resistance, uprising, rebellion, etc.) This is research for a screenplay - I'm not looking for a discussion about modern parallels, or of what the morally correct word is in various situations. Also, if someone could give me the word in German that would be great! Please no guessing.

Hey all, Just a quick question, here. Currently I am trying to manage a number of blog-esque sites, i.e. MySpace, Face book, Word press, and of course Metafilter. I was wondering if anyone knew of programs to help maximize my productivity when updating these. For example, I often post new songs I have created. Is there any program that would allow me to post an update across all my pages from one central hub? How about managing my messages from these sites? Any way to manage those in my regular email, or is there a program that could unify these? Basically I'm wondering if there is some type of "command station" program to help manage multiple sites like this one. Thanks in advance for any help! Hope you all had a great weekend.

Does anyone know how to remove the formatting (for lack of better expression) column borders that accompany text when I paste it from Excel to Word? I've checked both Word & Excel help to no avail, probably because I can't frame the question very well. Thanks.

In ms word, in endnotes, there's this little two-inch line in the upper-left corner to symbolize that you're in "footnote land," even on the second page of the endnotes and after. It's the same line that's at the bottom of the page before a footnote. Is there any way to remove this line? I have a mac, but I think the same issue comes up with PCs. I need to get rid of this line to fulfill the formatting requirements to post my dissertation, so any help would be much appreciated!

In Microsoft Word (I'm using Word 2002), automatic numbering is when the application numbers items, not you. I've run into a problem with navigating these items. If I am in, say, a 900-item document that's been manually numbered, I can use 'Find' to locate item no. 475. Is there a way to conduct such a search when automatic numbering is in effect, aside from paging through the document?

My scrollbar has disppeared and won't come back! I'm sure this is a stupid question with a simple answer, but I can't seem to get google to work for me to help answer it. I'm running MS Word on OS X, and my vertical scrollbar on the right hand side disappeared a few weeks ago. I nosed through pretty much every menu looking for a way to bring it back, but I can't seem to find it. It's becoming more than just a minor nuisance. The horizontal scroll bar at the bottom of the window appears just fine, it's only vertical that has gone missing. What do I need to do to bring it back?
