cable modem to wireless router troubleshooting

I've got a Arris SB6141 cable modem. When I hardline into it, I get over 100 Mbps down and about 20 Mbps up. When I connect it to a Linksys N-Ultra WRT160N broadband router, I get 0.5 Mbps down and 12 (?!) Mbps up. What gives, and how can I get more speed through my router?

What are some good choices for portable speakers?

I'm interested in getting some kind of WiFi based speakers for my apartment -- preferably something small and reasonably portable that I can move from room to room (or alternatively, something cheap enough to get a unit/pair of speakers for the kitchen, one for the living room, and one for my bedroom). There are a lot of similar devices on the market now and I'm not sure how to start combing through them. [more inside]

Can three wireless routers become one?

I have an old house with three ethernet-connected Wifi routers in it to get coverage everywhere. Can I reprogram them so that they all have the same SSID and password, and devices just pick up whichever is closer, or will that cause problems? Two are Belkin, one is D-link: would some shared open source firmware like DD-WRT help with this?

Accuracy of Fitbit Aria below 9kg?

I need to find a wireless connected scale to measure objects, none of them very heavy. The scale needs to have an API with which to retrieve the weight readings. For various reasons, including system compatibility and short timescales, I'd prefer to use the Fitbit Aria if at all possible. However, it looks like the minimum weight for accurate readings is 9kg. Can anyone tell me anything about how accurate the Fitbit Aria is *in practice* for weighing items lighter than this?

Make my TV a wifi jukebox (difficulty level: nitpicky requirements)

My personal music collection is divided between vinyl records (easily played over the stereo, no problems there) and over 70GB of music mp3s on my laptop. I almost never listen to my mp3s anymore because laptop speakers suck and I'm past the point of listening to my music on headphones only; and also because I still haven't figured out a way to wirelessly send/access (either via wifi, bluetooth or cloud storage) the music to my TV or to my amplifier directly. How to share internet costs with neighbors?

I live in the one-bedroom basement apartment of a house (so there are 2 total apartments in the building). About a week ago, my soon-to-be new neighbor contacted me, said he was moving in with friends upstairs, and let me know Comcast had said they could only have one account per address (I already have Comcast wireless internet) and asked if they could share with me, offering to split the cost. He was also potentially interested in upgrading to a faster connection. I said we could chat about it after he moved in, which they have done (I've been letting them use my account the past few days). There are four people living in the apartment upstairs. Now that I've thought about it, I think splitting the cost two ways when there will be five people using it is unfair. I have one of two apartments, but it's not like I will be using half the internet. Is there something I'm not considering? How are these costs usually split when you share with neighbors? Should we be splitting it 5 ways, 2 ways, or something in between? (I also want to ask if they want to just take over the account and have me reimburse them my share, since I am moving in a few months--that's an ok thing to ask, right?)
