Help me get wireless TV, or at least not have guests break their legs?

Please help me understand my options for a wireless TV setup so I'm not sued by people tripping over the cable strung across the room and breaking their legs. I have DISH but they've been no help when I try to talk to them and paying $150 for a technician to come out and answer the question is absurd. [more inside]

Where in the Bay Area can a user connect to the web via Ethernet?

Wifi is plentiful, but it is also more vulnerable than a wired connection. In the Bay Area, is there a library or other public or semi-public, trustworthy place, that allows users to connect directly to the router with an ethernet cable? Charging a fee is fine.

Androidfilter: can I use my Android's GPS despite not buying a 3G plan?

I own an old Samsung Galaxy SII Android phone. I've recently cancelled its 3G plan, so now it accesses the Internet exclusively through Wifi. This has apparently caused its GPS function to stop working when it's out of range of a Wifi network, which I hadn't expected. I'd like to resume using it as a mobile GPS device without re-purchasing a 3G plan. Do you know whether this can be done? [more inside]

How to share internet costs with neighbors?

I live in the one-bedroom basement apartment of a house (so there are 2 total apartments in the building). About a week ago, my soon-to-be new neighbor contacted me, said he was moving in with friends upstairs, and let me know Comcast had said they could only have one account per address (I already have Comcast wireless internet) and asked if they could share with me, offering to split the cost. He was also potentially interested in upgrading to a faster connection. I said we could chat about it after he moved in, which they have done (I've been letting them use my account the past few days). There are four people living in the apartment upstairs. Now that I've thought about it, I think splitting the cost two ways when there will be five people using it is unfair. I have one of two apartments, but it's not like I will be using half the internet. Is there something I'm not considering? How are these costs usually split when you share with neighbors? Should we be splitting it 5 ways, 2 ways, or something in between? (I also want to ask if they want to just take over the account and have me reimburse them my share, since I am moving in a few months--that's an ok thing to ask, right?)

How do we extend our doorbell range?

I live in an apartment building with no wired-in doorbells. Everyone just buys their own wireless doorbell and puts it at the apartment building gate. Unfortunately ours can't punch through all the concrete to reach our door. We upgraded to a longer range doorbell and that didn't reach either. Can we get some sort of repeater for it that we could put between the gate and our door? As far as I can tell, doorbell "extenders" (e.g.) wouldn't work, since that would require us to put the chime itself in a common area of the building.

MAC will not print documents

Sorry to be asking this question here, I have tried the usual places but no luck. Just bought HP Officejet Pro 8600. I am running OS 10.6.8, ran a software update and installed my drivers online. Set up went well, I can wirelessly send commands to print diagnostic things like cartridge alignment, network status print outs etc. All that stuff works. I am supposedly successfully set up. Documents however do not print and just idle in the print queue. Went through same set up with pc and it works fine. I can't figure out what's blocking me, no error messages, all seems ok except for the silence of the printer. Any ideas?

local, non internet connected , wifi browseable photo album

A local bar takes a lot of photos and currently lets people look at them later in real world photo albums. They already get cds of digital images at the time of printing and future picture taking will increase the number of albums to be stored and handled. They currently have no internet access and they have no wish to just dump the images online. Seeing the librarybox and its parent Piratebox i was thinking of a similar setup w php and ,say, tiny web gallery( no db needed) installed to allow local wireless browsing. Resized photos on a 32Gb drive. Cheap ( approx £60 ),no moving parts, runs quiet and cool. Simpler than an old laptop ,rPi or mac mini. Is there something simpler than this or already made up? Any better ideas ? i see lots of solutions for music handling but not images. There may be multiple groups looking for pictures of themselves from years before as worst case.
