I got a virus on my laptop, which was running Windows XP. To fix it, my boyfriend wiped everything on it and then reinstalled XP (home edition). Everything works fine now except that he can't get it connected to a wireless network. Any ideas for fixing this problem?

.mp3 and .wma (played with Media Player on Windows XP) files seem to have amalgamated into a file named 'USBC°ïæå.' of varying size. Any clue why and how to fix it? [more inside]

My install of Windows XP got borked by a virus that necessitated the deletion of a number of .exe files needed by the operating system.
I was kind of hoping to do this without re-formatting my C: drive, so I've been selecting the option to Repair the C:/Windows installation. It says that it successfully copies its setup files, and then restarts the computer. Upon restarting, it shows me a black screen with a mouse pointer but does not continue the install. [more inside]

PCFilter : Is there any way to tell what program inserted something into the registry?
I've been attacked by four seperate virii that sophos claims don't exist in the wild. One of them (netclnc.exe) keeps reappearing in my registry and the system32, and I want to know what's putting it there so I can kill it. Ideas?
