I want to connect from a Mac OS X machine to a Windows XP running XAMPP (Apache, MySQL, PHP), in order to use an application running on the Windows machine.
At the same time, I want to have the Mac OS X allowing Internet browsing, while Windows should be isolated from the Internet.
Can it be done in some way, or can you suggest a possible setup close to that purpose? [more inside]

How can I erase all my network places in Windows XP (one computer XP Pro, one computer XP Home) and start again? The trouble is that some places that used to work don't work any more, and I don't know why. Also, when I try to create new places, some work, and some don't. [more inside]

My just-replaced desktop is running XP Home, while my laptop is XP Pro -- can I use my desktop as a file server, or is XP Home too limiting/insecure? Am I opening myself up to a world of hurt? I have a PC with WinXP Pro. She has an iBook with Mac OS X. Together they
share a router. e:\ is where I shove all my
music. How can I make this available to her to copy what she wants to her machine or her ipod?
