Low Audio on Bootcamp Windows XP

I have a few Macbook Pro systems at work that we've installed Windows XP via Bootcamp on. We've done this with previous Macbook models in the past. This time, however, there is an audio problem: the audio on the XP side is so low it's close to non-existent.

Is anyone familiar with this problem? Does anyone have any ideas on how to fix it? I've been googling this and checking the Microsoft help but have come up short.

Some pertinent information:

Macbook Pro
Windows XP
Audio Hardware: Cirrus Logic 4206
Current Audio Driver: Cirrus Logic HD Audio

Why won't my Remote Desktop server forward sound?

I recently reinstalled Windows XP Professional on a "headless" machine—that is, one that I access only via Remote Desktop. Each time I've previously set this machine up, Remote Desktop has properly forwarded sound to the client computer; this time, however, sound doesn't work with Remote Desktop sessions. The hardware's the same as it's always been, and I'm using the same drivers and software. What's wrong? I've checked that the client software (one program on Linux, two on Mac OS) is configured to play sound from the server. I've reinstalled the drivers for the server's sound devices (a SoundMAX chip on the motherboard and a SoundBlaster card). I've followed a prescription found via Google. Nothing's worked, but I'm not doing anything different than what I've done in the past.

Recording audio from Windows mixed output

How do I set my (Windows XP) PC to record audio using the mixed output as the recording source? I built my own machine with an M-Audio Revolution 5.1 and can't figure out how to do this. On my previous computers (Dell laptops and desktops, all using onboard audio) there was an option in the Windows recording control settings to set the recording source as "mixer" or "mixed output." This would allow me to easily record (e.g. in Windows Sound Recorder) anything that was coming out of the speakers (e.g. audio from a video playing in YouTube).

I'm pretty sure I also had this option on an old desktop using a Sound Blaster 16 or Awe32.

The Recording Properties options on my computer (with the M-Audio software installed) are "Cd/Aux Monitor," "Line Monitor," "Mic Monitor," and "Mic/Line." These all seem to refer to external inputs, and none of them takes audio from the mixed output.

Organizing my music. All automatically.

I've never really bought albums/CDs and ripped them. Atleast not all of them, I probably have like 15-20 albums, but that's it.

The major part of my music collection happens to come from the Napster times. Where only tracks would be downloaded, which have little or no filename according to convention.

So, I have tracks like "12-Thievery Corp-Fedime's Flight.mp3". I'd like to see this track as "Thievery Corporation - Fedime's Flight.mp3" Is there any simple to use software, that will scan all the music I have in, for example, one drive (Drive F:). Look it up on CDDB/FreeDB/Amazon/Yahoo/etc, get the real information, rename the file, and update the artist/track tags and move it to a clean, new folder? All without too much human intervention?

I've searched on here, and I've tried numerous taggers, and so far MB Tagger worked well. But 60% of my collection comes up as "unidentified". It did the renaming/moving/updating tags thing really well. But too bad, it doesn't have good, correct info for 60% of my music.

Has anyone ever accomplished this, without spending too much time on it personally?

Windows XP: What does the "Speaker setup" option do, if you choose one of the various stereo options (desktop, laptop, monitor stand, monitor side, keyboard, headphones)? How does it change the waveform? It seems to me that things sound better if I pretend my headphones are desktop speakers... Also, is it possible for Windows to tell when I have headphones attached, or are we meant to change this option every time we plug them in?

remote control for my XP-based mp3/video player?

HTPC owners: need recommendations, based on your direct experience, on a remote control for my XP-based mp3/video player. More requirements inside. I need a remote and receiver that are 1) cheap, 2) able to be used with iTunes and WMP without much tweaking, 3) additionally customizable, 4) preferably have not too many buttons, and 5) be able to be programmed into a universal remote (traditional stereo). I'm thinking it has to be IR for #5, but please enlighten me if I'm wrong.

Thanks!
