After wasting two different off-days trying to get my damnable modem+router working, I want to return them both and get something entirely new. Any good recommendations for a solid, reliable DSL modem and wireless router set-up with decent NAS support?

We have two offices, front (sales) and back (paperwork) and we have our "main" router in the front, which serves the front desk computers, and then from the router we have run Ethernet to the back office into a hub which then serves a bunch of PCs, a printer, and, we would like, a Wi-Fi router (or rather a router with Wi-Fi). The purpose of the Wi-Fi router connected to the hub is only to allow Wi-Fi devices access to the network. Unfortunately, for some reason, when the router is connected to the hub, all the other PCs also connected to the hub pull their IPs from the Wi-Fi router's DHCP / use it as gateway instead of the "main router" in the front office. Why is this?

My old PC laptop runs perfectly as do any tablets on my apt public wi-fi. The iMac computer (Snow Leopard), slows to a halt and won't get to pages after a few times. I have done several things such as reset PRAM, gone to /Library/Preferences and moved all the files in the System Configuration folder to the Trash, and restarted Mac...The second bit helped for a week and now it is doing it again, no matter what browser. MacKeeper says the computer is alright, and airport utility just tells me I am connected to the internet. (I've done the reconnecting and assistant and diagnostics but nada...) I cannot figure this out and I have scoured the net. If somebody was downloading a ton on it, I would at least understand but any other devices work fine. My husband wants throw it out the window. Any ideas?

Annoying Verizon FIOS wireless router issue: if iPad/iPhone are on the wireless network, Windows laptop machines will not connect to wireless network. If I turn off WiFi on iPad/iPhone
and restart the router, Windows machines get on WiFi right away. But after Windows machines are connected to WiFi, starting up WiFi on the iPad will almost always cause the Windows machines to drop their connections. More after the jump...

I'm going to be in Manhattan this week, and need the power of the hivemind. I'm staying with friends for the weekend, so I don't have (or need) hotel reservations for Friday. This creates the problem, however, of where to work remotely while I'm there.
I understand that the NYPL is great for working... as long as you're quiet. But if I needed to voip conference with the rest of my team without annoying people around me (and being able to hear them in turn), without the benefit of a hotel room... where should I go?
Preference for being easy accessible from NYPL branches, which is where I'm planning on spending most of my time.
I saw the link to
open wifi NYC in a previous post, but that only solves part of the problem.

Is there anything I can do to improve wi-fi connectivity in a small area (three rooms) when dealing with a large number of other signals? I'm in a high-rise apartment building in a city; after letting inSSIDer run for a while, it shows that I'm competing with 125 other access points. My signal is okay in the first room, fair in the second room, and unusable in the third room. I'm using DD-WRT -- are there any settings I can tweak that might help?

Time to get a new smartphone, and I'll have a data contract for the first time. I'm a power user of computers, who carries 2k+ contacts and appointments around, and occasionally programs my own apps (what we oldtimers used to call "programs"). I'm really attracted to the dual screen of the
Kyocero Echo, but it's 3G-only. I don't intend to tether/hotspot my phone. Will I miss the 4G, a/o "limitless" data plans?

So I'm in the market for a mobile WiFi hotspot and a wireless data plan. The cheapest plans available -- and I'm all about the cheap -- typically offer you c. 200 MB a month.

If I were to cancel my AT&T contract (and pay the required fee, of course), could the phone continue to be used to access the Web via Wi-Fi to sync my Google calendar/contacts/e-mail, surf the Web, and run Web-enabled apps? Would I lose anything else besides telephone and 3G data capabilities?

My husband and I are visiting Korea soon. Is the famous WiFi in Korea ubiquitous enough to use his iPhone 4 for web browsing and Skype? We're also renting an SKTelecom cellphone, but we'd like to use the iPhone for data-related tasks and travel apps. Is it just a matter of his iPhone jumping on any Wifi network (without incurring any roaming charges)? We're coming from the US (AT&T), and staying in Jeju and Seoul.

Can I use a third party wireless adapter for an XBOX360?
I've long been frustrated by not having wireless on my xbox. I almost never want to be online with the thing, but when I do, I'd rather not drag a cable through the house.
Now I've got a
radio labs wireless adapter/antenna booster. I was just looking at the official 360 adapter, and am struck that they're probably
very similar.
Can I use my third part adapter, or is the 360 software so picky that it's not going to work? Thoughts? I'd rather not pay for this crap, Microsoft has enough of my filthy lucre already.
