I am looking for a signal booster that will play nicely on my laptop which has Vista. People recommended EnGenius USB Device but from what I gathered on Amazon, it does not work past XP. I basically need something that I can take with my on the go. Intel GMA 4500MHD / Intel Wi-Fi / 10/100 Eth is what came with my laptop. Is there a signal booster compatible with Vista?

I came home yesterday to find that we've now got internet in our house - great. The only problem is, though I'm able to get a perfect signal in the sitting room, which is where the wireless router is situated, if I go the five metres or so from there to my bedroom, the connection rapidly deteriorates to the point that I can't even open Metafilter. I'm running a Macbook with a fully-udated version of Tiger, so what gives? [more inside]

One iPhone. One Zoom X6 ADSL Wireless Router. My Wi-Fi connection to my iPhone keeps dropping in and out. My laptop and workstation do not have any problems with the router, only my iPhone. I have tried to 'Forget the Network', 'Renew the Lease', reset the router, turn off / on Wi-Fi on the iPhone, etc. Too no avail. If I watch the Wifi settings on the iPhone, I can see the ip settings get set, and then disappear, and then set, and disappear again. What is happening here, and how can I fix it?

Acus eee + Wireless: I have recently bought an Asus eee, and I would like to pick up more free wifi from various locations Downtown Vancouver, Canada. Is there a way that I can boost the connection? I seem to get a few signals, but they are usually weak and drop off soon. I do not want to get internet service as it is too expensive, too inconvenient, it is not portable or or I need CDs to install the services(The asus does not have a cd drive.) I have not found good laptop signal boosters for wireless yet, does anyone have any recommendations?

Looking for a cheap NAS enclosure (~$50) - interested in ximeta netdisk, but I'd rather go with something that doesn't require a software install. For $100ish I could build a cheap VIA C3/C7 server, but a simple HD enclosure would be better. I'm planning to run it off a WRT54g, and have heard that ximeta's get slow wifi performance - could I watch videos over the connection (300mb/hr divx), or would I be restricted to backup and music? If so, what's the cheapest NAS enclosure that isn't a POS that can manage mp3's over wifi? Something that could do bittorrent would be great, but they seem much more costly. Most important, I want a NAS that will spin down when not in use so it doesn't kill my non-enterprise HD.
