I've recently become engaged and my fiancee and I were planning on getting married in the fall. We've learned that one of our sisters is pregnant and is due around the same time. How late is too late for her to travel? Are we being unreasonable in picking a date when we know there's a high likelihood she won't be able to come? [more inside]

Where to elope? The SO and I would like to elope in January, but we haven't found a place that suits us. A Justice of the Peace/city hall-type wedding would suit us well, but if possible, we'd like that municipal building to be a wonderful, old, beautiful (or new and funky) building in an interesting country/city/area that we could spend some time exploring. I am planning my honeymoon for the two weeks beginning June 11th, 2007. My future wife and I are looking at Cabo San Lucas and San Jose Del Cabo. We have heard that the weather can be too hot / too rainy this time of year, but I tend to think that my future in-laws and travel agent may be overreacting. Has anyone ever been to Cabo at this time of year? [more inside]

A cousin of mine is getting married in Cartagena and I'll be spending a week there at the end of July. Any travel tips? Recommended places to visit/eat? I may have opportunities to travel outside of Cartagena after the wedding festivities are over, considering I'll be staying over longer than many of the guests; after I do the official Romancing The Stone walking tour (kidding, I think) where should I go from there?

ExperienceFilter: so I'm going back to Cali (from Texas) in a couple of weeks to be in a dear friend's wedding. I'm a cheapskate, and deathly afraid to fly (though I will if I must), and have found, much to my surprise, that Amtrak offers the cheapest ($276 vs. $375 bus and $400-800 air) round-trip fare by far. However, the few people I've spoken with all semi-shudder at the thought of taking the train long-distance, mainly due to unexplained delays. What's your long train ride experience? Is it worth the cheap fare?
