I seem to recall a site run by some guy that noted pundits' and analysts' forecasts. If an analyst said Vista was going to flop, this was the type of site to record that. I think I saw this site mentioned a couple years ago on daring fireball, or perhaps waxy. It definitely had the "claim chowder" vibe.

I have a how-to type web site that's grown to be fairly large. The categories I've created to organize my articles often don't fit well and I may already have too many. I'm also not using tags. I seem to lack both a good system and an aptitude for labeling & categorizing things. I need to come up with a better method that my readers will find more useful and which will also be search engine friendly.

I run a small website for a sport I enjoy and am passionate about - traffic is good (at least I'm happy) and in the last few weeks I've been starting to get some press coverage. All good so far...
A PR company have asked me to submit a 'media pack' - I have no idea what that is, or what might be included in there - I have asked the contact, but I'm thinking I should try and get ahead of the game.

Help me remember an old website: it had art projects that (re)used computers. One project was old PC monitors with motors inside which tracked and followed a person, as if the computer could see him. Second project was using barcodes, which one scanned and produced an object on a screen. If I remember well, other barcodes were actions (i.e. shrink, grow, destroy the object). I think there were others, but I only remember those two.

I'm looking for great examples of personal/professional web sites. Can you point me to great examples of clean, easy to navigate and read sites with contact information, resumes, current projects, social networking links and maybe a personal blog? I'm looking for the kinds of sites that show up at www.firstnamelastname.com for professional, self-employed, types who could be looking for contract or permanent employment.

Is there a site, similar to StubHub, that sells sports tickets, but with transparent pricing? I.e., I want to be able to go to the site, find tickets, and know what I will pay without having to click through to the end and find out that there is a per ticket fee of $25. I don't mind paying delivery charges, even $15 per order, as long as they are consistent. StubHub et al. are too unethical for me to support, and Craigslist is a lot of work.

Asking-for-a-friend-filter: my friend is doing Bachelor's in Computer Science and has a final year project to the tune of 'website with database'.
He doesn't want to make something as generic as a regular shopping website; so any interesting, offbeat ideas for database websites would be more than welcome.
Catch: Shouldn't be very difficult. And should be SFW.

Argh, someone linked to a web host that happened to have a $10 a year price for basic hosting (Like ASmallOrange's $25 yr plan.) I can't find that link after looking at a bunch of answers! Not pay as you go like NFS. Anyone know that $10 year host that was mentioned? Or an alternative with PHP and MySQL for similar price?
