Is there a good website for making flow charts or concept maps or cognitive maps in groups? A group of my students and I will be making a website together, and I am hoping to find a free or low-cost way for all of us to make such a chart together online. This would be to show how all of the sections of the website relate to each other. Any thoughts or experiences with such services would be most appreciated.

blogging as a business and taxes - it can't be so difficult! Or can it? The Plan - spouse and I want to start a travel blog (we love to travel and are *good* at it!) as a business. You know, run some google ads, make a little money. Actually, if we make enough to cover our travel, we'll be happy (until the eventual greed kicks in). Soooo... if we're going to make more than $600 here in America, the IRS is going to want it's share. But two can play at that game! We want to take all the deductions we can (home office, website costs and, of course, our travel). It will just be the two of us, no employees. But therein lies the confusion... [more inside]

My improv troupe is looking for ways to publicize our shows, beyond the word-of-mouth and email lists we've been working with so far. As part of this effort, I'm looking for websites with listings and schedules for comedy shows--particularly improv comedy--in the Los Angeles area. Specifically, of course, I'm looking for sites that allow you to post your own listing, or submit it for posting. Any suggestions?

I need a a script set or pages or package that will help me create a self-grade able multiple-choice quiz that someone can take online via the web, enter their name, receive a grade at the end along with what questions were missed, and automatically e-mail these same results along with the test-taker's name, to a specific email address (preferably two addresses). What do people use to schedule meetings. I'm told it can be done with Outlook, but I hate Outlook. Is there a web site that makes this painless. I'm envisioning a calendar where people can mark the times that they can't attend a meeting so that it's easy to see when the meeting CAN be scheduled. Any help appreciated.

Can anyone suggest a book, website, etc. that describes the process of breaking a problem down in order to write a program. I have struggled for far too long trying to figure out how to write a program from scratch only to be stumped by the logic involved.

This question, I think, is outside of a specific language or philosophy (Java, OOP, et al.). It's just something I haven't been able to get my head around.

Long ago, I recall seeing a link (maybe on MeFi, but I can't find it) for a website that displayed some pretty impressive technology used to bring out the detail from shadows in photographs. I seem to recall that there was an online version that you could use for testing (upload your photo and it would lighten the shadow areas). Does anyone remember this, and if so, do you know the URL?
