I have a sort of photo sharing website that breaks content up by category. There is not much text on the site, and we've been rejected by Google AdSense on that basis (not enough text). I'd like to find an ad network that will let me supply keywords (e.g., we have a gardening section, so we could sell space for gardening ads on those parts of the site) instead of scanning the site for them. Can anyone recommend an ad network that might do this?

Which websites use a "buy a day in our calendar to advertise" model? I can think of Unicorn Booty
and I Wear Your Shirt
, and I vageuly remember one from a few years ago but can't recall now.

WebContentAndAdvertisingFilter: How do large content sites generate more page views to fulfill ad requirements? You're running a huge web site. You're running low on promised page views to a certain advertiser, and you certainly don't want to give the $$ back. What do you do to generate more, but still good quality, page views? [more inside]

A few days ago my wife and I decided to pop down to Brighton for a break. She booked the trip on her home computer and I looked at a few pictures on flickr and checked askmefi for what to see using mine.
Today, Amazon is recommending me Brighton travel books. How did they know?

I'm looking for a textad system for a site I run. I'm familiar with textads.biz
, but I think I might prefer a locally hosted and run system, more akin to the fine MetaFilter Textads
. Any suggestions?

I am the "neighbourhood geek" where I live, and so end up giving away a lot of free tech support. I am perfectly happy to do so, and now plan to start up my own web site where I dispense knowledge I have recently been asked for to the world. Kinda like "SlashDot... for dummies".
If the site gets sufficiently popular I may place some Google ads on it, but first I need to get my site "out there" and so I need to advertise, which I am willing to spend a few currency units on. I was going to use Google AdWords, but I'm really useless at picking keywords.
Are there better places to advertise, based on the target audience (non-geeks and wannabe-geeks) of my site?
