GunFilter: What, if any, are the less-obvious ramifications of getting both a concealed-carry permit (WA state), and an alien firearms license (which is required in this case to get the permit)? For example, I assume these licenses show up on police computers - might that change the way police interact with you under certain circumstances? Are there other aspects of life where these licenses, or the database entries created by them, might influence situations? [more inside]

For location/travel purposes, we'll be staying at a hotel near the Foggy Bottom Metro stop and will not have a car. Thanks in advance for your recommendations.

What's a good place in or near the greater Seattle area, to park and photograph a car? I'm looking for somewhere which is a nice area or has a nice backdrop, has space to stop a car, and which is generally fairly deserted (so that camera etc. can be set up without constantly being the path of people/cars, and pictures can be taken without having to wait for people to leave the frame, etc). To make things harder, this would most convenient during the day on a weekend, but if a good place is most empty during office hours (or whatever), it might be worth the inconvenience.

Buying property with a water view... How can I confirm that the nice view will remain unobstructed over the years?
We are house-hunting in the Seattle area. Looking at property with water views. Willing to pay the higher price that comes with a view. But I'm reading some horror stories about how a neighbor will build a tower in front of your view, or neighbors who refuse to trim their tall shrubs. And then your view is obscured and your property value drops. How do I research this? How can I know if the viewshed is protected or not? What sort of monitoring would I need to do over the years? I will ask my realtor to research it, but I'd like to hear from people with experience with this issue.
