We're watching
Gettysburg, which is a great education in the Civil War for our 15-year-old son. What are other great movies about battles and war?

I'm writing a war/horror story where two groups of sworn enemies band together to defeat a common foe. I'm looking for some suggestions on stories/books/films to borrow (i.e. steal) ideas from. Already thought of "Hell in the Pacific" and "Joyeux Noël" which deal with similar themes, but I was hoping you all could suggest some others....

I have several questions about the 2006 movie
The Good Shepherd with Matt Damon, and I haven't been able to find answers from my usual sources. I'm hoping Robert DeNiro is a secret MeFi fan and will step in, providing closure. [spoilers ahoy!]

War Movies: I'm looking for any good movies about World War II, specifically to do with civilian life (rather than military actions.) I've seen
Au Revoir Les Enfants and
The Diary of Anne Frank - can you suggest any others you've enjoyed?
