It took me years to figure this out, but I'm allergic to many common ingredients in soaps and lotions. If I stray away from using my approved short list of hypoallergenic soaps anywhere on my body, the most sensitive, NSFW, TMI part of my body suffers. My dumb clueless self recently used some body wash I'm allergic to. Help me figure out how to make everything normal again. [more inside]
For some time now, I have been having increasing problems with vaginal and vulvar irritation and dryness. Anyone have any idea what this could be? I know YANMD and I should call mine, but I do all my gyno stuff through Planned Parenthood (I do have good insurance but I like them and I'm relatively comfortable there). They are closed for a couple of days, and will probably not be able to get me in for a couple of weeks. Many distracting and unpleasant details within. [more inside]
When I was a little girl I was encouraged by my parents to refer to my vulva by a name, which not explicitly vulgar, was inappropriate and pedo-ish. Now that I have a small daughter who is learning to use a potty, I find I need to refer to her genitals but I don't know how, and I don't have anyone irl that I can ask. Is vulva too text-booky? I see 'yoni' here and there which is cute, but is maybe too wholemeal for me? I find myself saying things like 'there' and 'yourself' but I don't really approve of myself for doing so, and I don't want her to feel my shame, or worse, not have the words to talk about a part of her body. What is a word my daughter and I can use that is not weird or creepy or too scientific? Thanking you in advance.
Embarrassing Injury Filter: I managed to scrape my vulva on a rough surface today. Now I have these little paper cut type abrasions on the very softest parts but I can't really see them and I don't know what to put on them so they heal up properly. Can I put Neosporin on them? I'm worried that if I'm not careful any ointment I use will spawn a YI or something. :( My gyno won't be open till after the New Year otherwise I'd call and ask her.
I have a painful pimple on my inner labia. How long is this going to take to go away? [more inside]
Hi, I have heard many opinions about this but need a final answer: vulva should be washed with soap or not?
I have had a burning/stinging vulva on and off for over a year and it's driving me crazy. I've seen lots of different healthcare professionals and none of them have been able to identify it. I've finally got an appointment with a specialist (thank you NHS) in chronic women's health conditions in a couple of weeks and I want to be prepared when I see her, so has anybody suffered anything similar? I've got a giant painful cystic pimple on my vulva (where the mons pubis meets the labia majora, as in this illustration ). Even if it weren't a bad idea, I couldn't pop it--it's too deep. What can I do to make it less painful?
Embarrassing lady business question. Specifically: heat rash (maybe?) on/in my vulva. [more inside]
I've had some on-and-off pain in my pelvic area and vulva for over a year, and coincidentally (or, so says my PCP), I've also had two abnormal pap smears and an abnormal colposcopy. I don't understand how this is a coincidence. This will be a little NSFW. [more inside]
What's that funny stuff floating in my pee, and is it related to this other issue? TMI inside. [more inside]
A question from Ms. Ash3000: "My vagina smells funky, but I don't have the symptoms of a yeast infection. Could this be just a side effect of the summer heat, or is it more likely that something else is going on?" [more inside]
Why is there a bump on my (female) genitals, why does it hurt so much, and how can I get it to go away? [more inside]
