Hi, I will be living in Mumbai for 11 weeks next summer. I have an unlocked iPhone 3G. What is my best bet in terms of carrier and plan for the cheapest and most reliable data access? I plan to do local calls over the cell phone voice network and international calls via Skype on the iPhone. Thanks in advance!

Important Skype Issue! I primarily use Skype for voicemails, however I am getting lots of complaints that Skype's line is busy. Every time I open Skype the preferences are set to only allow calls from people in my contact list. I keep setting them to allow calls from anyone and they keep going back to only accepting calls from people in my contacts list. [more inside]

Suppose I wanted to rig up the phone in my office at work such that I could access all of the phone's functions from someplace else, not on the office PBX...like, say, at home. Is this possible, and how? [more inside]

We are temporarily moving 50 miles from our permanent home. We would like to keep our landline phone number active. VOIP seems like the obvious answer, but I'm a complete internet telephony newbie. [more inside]

My VoIP is horrible today - calls dropping constantly. This is not new, but it's at an all-time high and is impossible to use the line for business. How do I know if it's the VoIP provider, or is this my broadband service (it's cable modem)? Who do I call and complain to?

VOIP Filter:

I would like feedback regarding people's experience with VOIP. Vonage and Lingo, and any others. Bonus points for feedback regarding faxing over VOIP. Even more bonus points for VOIP over a Verizon DSL line in the New York City area. Also, is VOIP legal in the EU?
