Where should a family of 3 go for our vacation in Central America, Mexico, Colombia, Venezuela, Brazil or the Caribbean? [more inside]
My large family (it's going to be between 10 and 14 people - not sure yet) wants to gather for a few days at Christmastime. Money is an issue for some of us and so we can't do more than three nights. Understandably, most of the available rentals that would accommodate a group our size are in high demand areas, and they want a longer holiday stay than we can afford (and in many cases more money per night.) The thing is, we can be totally flexible with location. Anywhere in California between, say, Santa Rosa and San Luis Obispo would be fine, as long as it isn't snowy in December (ruling out the Tahoe area.) [more inside]
In the spring I made a decision to move back home to find myself and really figure out what it is I want to do with the rest of my life. I'd like to tread water carefully with my next adventure. What makes sense for me? [more inside]
What would be some fun and interesting things to take a five year old child from Southern California to do in New York City next week?
Suggestions on activities in and around Boston for my brother and I this wk? We are up for comedy shows, arts, music, boating, etc. [more inside]
I'm in Seattle with a friend for the weekend. It's 8:30. We're looking to wander a bit tonight, hopefully outside, hopefully with a good view of the city or some impressive natural phenomenon. Any suggestions? [more inside]
A friend and I are planning a month-long roadtrip down the West coast of the United States - starting in Oregon, and possibly going so far as to cross Texas and finish up in Louisiana somewhere - to take place sometime in the new year, and we'd appreciate some advice in re: must-sees and logistics. [more inside]
Okay, team. I'm going to take a trip to the Adriatic area next year for the month of August, but I've revealed myself to be inept at finding flight pricing. That, and I'd like some pointers for what to look into I'm the planning process, if you have any ideas! [more inside]
I'm going to Normandy for a week in August - staying near Caen and then near Cherbourg. Besides all the D-Day sites, does anyone have any good suggestions for things to see /do? Thanks [more inside]
Because we're probably going to be in Scotland long enough to not only see Islay and Isle of Skye but also return via eastern Scotland (Inverary, Loch Ness, St Andrews maybe, and Edinbugh), I'm looking for similar great tips to those people offered in my earlier AskMe. Thanks, all.
East Coast Road Trip-Filter: a friend is having a very rough year but is finally taking three days (Aug. 24th - 26th) for much-needed road trip. She may not get to take another one for a while, so we want to make the most of it. My question: what can you recommend within a ~400-mile radius of Philadelphia (places, activities, events, gatherings, WHATEVER) that might be mind-blowingly memorable? The kinda stuff that makes you blurt, "Holy CRAP, this is AMAZING!"... the kinda stuff she and I can enthusiastically reminisce about for years to come. [more inside]
Looking for things to do in and around Minneapolis for 5 days. [more inside]
I took off next week (8/5 - 8/9) for a vacation. It fell through. Now I have the time off, the money saved up and no where to go. Suggestions? [more inside]
My wife and I went on honeymoon to Disney World, then with the kids, then without the grown kids. I can't tell you how many times we've gone over the years, at least 15. Obviously we love the place, but we are wondering if folks could suggest other venues with some of the same advantages and attractions so we could mix it up a bit and not go every other year. Details within. [more inside]
My partner and I (early 30s) will be in Cologne, Germany for an event mid-September. The event ends on a Saturday, and we are flying out of Marseille, France the following Sunday. Please help us plan a wonderful, romantic mid-late September European vacation. [more inside]
We have two free nights to use at any Hyatt in the US. The catch is that we must use them by Aug 31. We would like to do a weekend away from our home in Brooklyn. There are 3 of us -- two adults and a 7-year-old boy. We tend to spend very little on hotels, so this is our chance to treat ourselves to a special hotel. Can you recommend a very nice Hyatt property within reasonable driving distance of NYC? That could include Philly, Boston, upstate NY, Connecticut, Rhode Island, etc. More concerned with hotel "wow" factor than location, but a great location is certainly a plus! [more inside]
My girlfriend and I plan to go to Spain, leaving Christmas day and coming back a few days after New Years. We are interested in both activities and places it's just nice to be for a while. Spain is the primary destination here, but we're open to side trips into Andorra and/or Morocco. And, hey, how about the Baleric Islands? [more inside]
We last went to Disney World about ten years ago. What are the best new things since then, and what changes should I know about? [more inside]
My boyfriend and I are planning a (somewhat) last minute camping trip to Maine. So far these are the details we have finalized. The trip will be from August 3-14, we will be staying in Kennebunk for a night, and we will spend 3 nights in Camden Hill State Park. [more inside]
Planning a four weeks long overland trip around the Balkans in September/October. [more inside]
My husband and I are taking a repositioning cruise this fall and will end up in Colon, Panama at 8:00 am on a Saturday morning. We'll have about 10 days to spend in the area and Boquete looks like it has everything we're looking for. The problem is, we're not sure how to get there. Here's what I've learned so far... We will be in San Diego from Saturday July 20 through Thursday July 25. We booked some accomodation last month, but it seems to have fallen through, and now we need to book a new place at the last minute. [more inside]
I'm looking to do a mini road trip to Nashville from Aug. 2nd-4th and drive through Mammoth Cave on my way home on the 4th. I want to maximize awesomeness while minimizing cost. I'm pretty open in terms of ideas, but I like museums, music, and antiques, and I plan to at least do one of the tours of Mammoth Cave when I get there. I will have camping equipment with me but I'd prefer to have shower facilities while in Nashville. Any suggestions? Things to see? Free attractions? Ways to save money (especially on food)? Favorite Mammoth Cave tour?
So I'm dating this single mom with a 6 month old. It's been going well but all our dates end with her rushing to take care of her baby - as a mom should. But she clearly needs a rest and I'm trying to figure out if I can take her on a vacation anywhere. Is there somewhere in the Northern California/Nevada area that is some kind of resort with stuff to do AND offers babysitting for a six month old as part of the package? Is there a name for resorts or vacations or recreation options like this? As a single guy with no kids I have no idea what the options are here. So please...educate me.
Can anyone recommend reliable, reasonably priced tour operators for a honeymooning couple spending two weeks in Peru? [more inside]
This fall we're hoping to visit Scotland for a couple weeks, possibly either the last two weeks of September or last week of September / first week of October. We'd like to rent a car and drive from Glasgow, ideally visiting both Islay and the Isle of Skye. Looking for tips about weather / clothing / other preparations that would be appropriate, as well as tips for an experienced American driver (licensing, insurance, etc.) who's never driven abroad before but wants to drive in Scotland. Also, since I assume we'll need to make ferry reservations to get to Islay, I'd appreciate insider info on that. Specific tips about must-see or must-visit locales and sights in western Scotland would of course also be greatly appreciated.
Hi. I'm a Portuguese student and I'm going to spend two weeks of my summer vacations on Leeds, England since I have an aunt there that invited me. I would like to spend my time practicing my English but I don't know what to do or where to go. Where can I meet new people (of my age range preferably: 20's), have a good conversation, listen to other people talk, ...? Your help will be much appreciated!
I'll be in Greece in September for work and it seems a shame not to take some vacation time while I'm there. Problem is most of the tourist guides seem to focus quite a bit on how great the various beaches are or how awesome the nightlife is, neither of which interest me when I'm traveling alone. Ruins and archaeology are good and I intend to include some of that but there must be some awesome things that I don't even know to look for. Some more specifics inside. [more inside]
My dad, who has some health problems that limit his mobility and sometimes his mental acuity, asked me to investigate the possibility of spending 3 days at the beach near where he grew up, which is Belle Harbor. I live in Brooklyn but don't know anything about Belle Harbor, including exactly what it is. I think it's more or less the same as Rockaway Beach, and I've found some rental bungalows around Beach 110th Street. My question--is that where Belle Harbor is, and could my mom and dad and I enjoy three days there with no car? Given that leisure activities could basically be the beach and just my dad soaking up the nostalgic vibe of his native 'hood, could we find restaurants, simple groceries, a quiet bar and other essentials within a very limited walking distance?
11 of us from age 3 months to 67 years want to meet somewhere in the world. Help us find where that could be! [more inside]
TravelFilter: I am going to visit my mom for July 4th. She has recently moved to the area (Newport TN). There is a Bush's baked beans factory. What else is there to see and do within a 30 minutes or so drive? I'll be there for the 4th and then that whole weekend with my boyfriend. She's having a big party with lots of visitors the whole weekend, so we're not going to be at their house the whole time. I'm looking for things for Boyfriend42 and I do when we are not stuffing ourselves full of potato salad, hamburgers, hot dogs, and of course, baked beans. [more inside]

My old college roommate and I are taking a road trip out to Denver next week because he hasn't seen it and he wants to go. I've been to Denver on and off, but I don't know what there really is fun to do in the city and surrounding area, other than what's on wikipedia. Does anyone have any personal experience on cool things to do on a one week trip?
Could you look over my preliminary agenda and fill in the gaps? [more inside]
Business takes me to Paris next month, and I'd like to tack on a several-day cycling excursion to the trip. Can you recommend any tour companies? Snowflake details inside. [more inside]
My SO and I are planning a long weekend trip up to Chicago with another couple in the fall. Wondering about the places to stay and things to do. We will most likely be driving so we'll have a car to get around town, so where we stay doesn't neccesarily have to be in the hub of all the touristy crap that we'll no doubt want to do at some point. I'm more concerned about other things. Details inside. [more inside]
We are hoping to get out of the Midwest from 3-7 July. Where should we go? [more inside]
Mrs. W and I will be speeding four days in Galena, IL at the end of July. Recommendations for restaurants, book stores, arty type things, craft stores, and any off the beaten path treasures that typical visitors might not know about? I am leaving this very open ended; if you liked something there, or in the general area, let us know.
My wife and I are taking the train to Vancouver, BC this summer. Any recommendations on what is worth, or not worth, doing or seeing when traveling without a vehicle? (Example: The Sea to Sky drive will not happen) [more inside]
My husband's mother will not accept that we can not accompany them on a family vacation this summer. We need a magical phrase that is going to help her get it. [more inside]
This year I made a resolution for healthier living and have been successful so far. Overcame a lot of bad habits compared to where I started. But I'm going on a cruise with a group of friends next month. From what I've been told it's going to be an around the clock buffet. I'm planning on using the gym but don't know how to deal with all of the food. I'm not going to be on the alcoholic drinks package and figure I can enjoy dinner that way. Breakfast and lunch are a free for all though. Any ideas for what my best options would be so I don't gain 15 by the end of the week.
Mom and I are going to Virginia beach in early August. Please help me narrow down the huge selection of beachfront hotels & things to do! [more inside]

I'll be in Montreal and Longueuil, Quebec, Canada for two weeks. What budget-friendly things should I do there? [more inside]
Girlfriend and I are looking to get away this August, and we're looking for destinations. We want to spend ~10 days relaxing, experiencing some natural beauty, being warm, eating delicious food (both of the restaurant variety and the pick-up-bread-and-cheese-from-the-local-vendor variety) and generally unplugging from day-to-day life. Not big partiers, but we'd frequent the local cafe/pub. Something like a little cottage in the south of France would be our dream, but we're working with a budget of ~$4000 all-inclusive, so France may have to wait. We're 30ish and live in Boston. Idea us please!
I would like to take the kids to the beach for a week, but really don't know where or how to start planning. Location, type of housing, best weeks, is it too late for 2013? Please help! [more inside]
