I'm getting married this summer, and my partner and I are looking at the west coast of Vancouver for our honeymoon. We've found Tofino and specifically La Picola cabin and I'm looking for any information folks might have about the cabin; good, bad, indifferent, any. (I read the other asks about Tofino, but none of them had as much detail as I'm looking for) [more inside]
Ramblin' up from Georgia to Vermont from March 26-28 with a new wife, two cats, and minimal luggage. So this is a two-pronged question: first, what do you recommend as a nice scenic fun route with minimal leave-the-car requirements, and second, how do you deal with two cats in one car for three days? Help my partner and me find a place to take a well-deserved vacation in mid-March. We have a budget of about $1500 including flights. We are looking for something near a beach where it's warm, within flying distance of New York City but preferable outside the US. Something more upscale than a straw hut in Dominica but less pre-determined than an all-inclusive resort in Antigua. Bonus points for ecotourism and cultural memorability.
Weekend getaway in May in the South? [more inside]
My family's regular Mexican vacation spot is a combination of Isla Mujeres & Tulum area. That said, we have a new 10-month old baby this time and are looking for something a little closer. I saw that flights from LAX to Los Mochis are particularly inexpensive; can anyone recommend small, not too touristy beach communities similar to what we'd find in Yucatan (or nicer!) within a bus trip or short drive of Los Mochis? Bonus points for recommendations for inexpensive house rentals or interesting things to do, since (I assume) there are no cenotes in northern Mexico for us to snorkel in all day.

My boyfriend and I just booked a flight to Honolulu for the first week of May and now we need to find accommodations. We're hoping to find a week-long rental somewhere within the city to use as a home base, spend most of our time at the beach and/or exploring nearby tourist-y sites via public transit, and maybe rent a car for just a couple days. I am a 49 y/o woman traveling for Xmas to Akumal (near Cancun) with my family and my extended family. We are staying in condos right on the beach and I want to pack comfortable clothes/shoes but still look good. What besides swimsuits and cover-ups and hat should I take? What shoes? I have Keen water sandals but they do fill up with sand on the beach and are probably mainly for river shoes when you need to walk on rocks. I also have black teva flip flops. Not the most flattering at all! We will be snorkeling, reading on the beach, walking, sightseeing going to restaurants, playing with young nieces and nephews. Thank you!
