Going to Japan, but not for a while. What should we book?

Thanks to some ridiculous flight deals, a friend of mine and I are headed to Japan for two weeks. The catch/opportunity: the flight is next February. There's probably a bunch of really neat things to do in Japan that unfortunately have huge waiting lists or need to be planned well in advance, right? For once in my life, we are those people planning well in advance! So what neat things with long waiting lists should we sign up for now? [more inside]

Help me fill out my Chicago itinerary for next weekend!

My husband and I are landing in Chicago for the first time on Saturday, May 3rd and will be there until the evening of the 5th. One purpose of the trip is to visit my husband's father, who has been living there for the last year, but the other is to explore Chicago. We are staying at La Quinta in Downtown Chicago, mainly because we got a good deal on it through Hotwire. My husband's dad lives at the Streeter, in the Near North Side area. Cabin in north-east Pennsylvania radius?

I am looking for a relaxing weekend by myself within a 4 hour radius of my home (Scranton, PA). I have been searching airbnb for cabins in specific towns that I know of, but I don't think I'm getting all of the areas I should. Do you know of a cute town or specific cabin rental in the northeast PA, lower NY state, upper WV, or NJ area that I should look at for a luxurious weekend getaway by myself. My main requirements are wifi and a big tub. I can bring my own groceries so I don't care if it's remote.

Help me decide where to go for a month of relaxation

I'm planning to take a month of holiday in May or June, and want to find a cheap remote destination anywhere in the world where I can rent a small place and just hang out and read books and unwind. help us plan a somewhat last minute, gay friendly winter vacation

Help me find a fun/inexpensive vacation for my boys and I!

Mother of two sons here - they are all grown up and we are talking about taking our first out-of-state vacation in years. The problem is that we are vacation-planning inept and don't know where to start. It has to be as cheap as possible, but I'm not sure how to search or how to find deals. This is where you come in handy! We live in Cleveland, Ohio and are looking at somewhere on the west coast (perhaps San Francisco) or even Mexico/South America. (Europe is also an option, but perhaps very expensive?) We want it to be far enough away, and not too chilly (a bit is okay, and temperate is fine as well). [more inside]
