How can I find a nice, but isolated, Michigan cabin to stay in on vacation? Everything I find online is both 1) not isolated, 2) unnecessarily large for me and my wife, and 3) doesn't allow us to bring our dog.

Going' To A Cabin In Maine For A Week -Filter: So it looks like I'm spending a week in Palermo, ME at a friend's cabin by the lake. What did you wish you did during your rustic cabin adventure? What did you wish you brought? Tips for surviving or enjoying? Fun stuff to see in the area or places or food that can't be missed? Fun things to do with your SO along? We'll have a bike, a car, running water and some limited internet access.

Yet another vacation question. I'm trying to find a cabin to rent in mid-July. The requirements are we want to bring our two small dogs and we want it to be fairly remote/off the beaten path. We're located in central Indiana and would prefer a six hour drive at most.

Romantic Getaway Filter: Help my lovely lady and I find an affordable cabin (or other cozy, romantic-type-lodgings) within driving range of DC for 4-5 days midweek in mid-March. Google provides a lot of information on this subject, but I'm having trouble really narrowing it down, so I'm seeking the input of the Hive.

I'd like to rent an inexpensive cabin, somewhere picturesque and north of NYC, with room enough to fit 6 people who don't mind crashing on the floor in sleeping bags, for one weekend in October or November this fall. What can you tell me?

I want to travel to Sanibel or Captiva Islands - I am looking for accommodation, but I find it very hard to make a decision based exclusively on online research. I would welcome any advice on where to stay.
I am not very fond of big chain hotels like Holiday Inn's etc.... I much prefer small motels or self-catered cabins, but I am afraid to book a shabby place because online everything looks pristine..... so, ideally I would love to find a small motel or cabin by the sea, in a quiet part of town. Another thing to consider is that I am traveling with my parents and our baby, therefore I am looking for places that have a apt-like layout, with ideally the choice of one or two bedrooms and a kitchenette.
Any advice on this and other must-see, must-eat, must-do attractions would be greatly appreciated.
