Girlfriend and I are looking to get away this August, and we're looking for destinations. We want to spend ~10 days relaxing, experiencing some natural beauty, being warm, eating delicious food (both of the restaurant variety and the pick-up-bread-and-cheese-from-the-local-vendor variety) and generally unplugging from day-to-day life. Not big partiers, but we'd frequent the local cafe/pub. Something like a little cottage in the south of France would be our dream, but we're working with a budget of ~$4000 all-inclusive, so France may have to wait. We're 30ish and live in Boston. Idea us please!

Less touristy Central American beach spot to plunk down for a month in March? Thinking Quepos, Costa Rica, got anything better?

I am looking for an reasonably inexpensive tropical place to spend 6-8 weeks or so this coming spring. This would be more working sabbatical than full-on vacation. In a perfect world, I'd be able to rent an apartment or villa and be able to do my own shopping, cooking, etc.

Where should we go as a family next? We have just returned home (Canada) from a great European visit (Germany, Belgium, Holland and England) and are already looking towards planning and saving for our next trip.

Planning a vacation for one. Something within driving distance of my home. Something relaxing, interesting, surrounded by nature and quiet. Wouldn't mind a place that offers up meditation classes perhaps massages etc. I live in Iowa again prefer nature setting but am willing to travel. Anybody know of something in this area that fits that description?

I plan to visit Rome during the end of June primarily for a wedding and to meet up with an ex-girlfriend.
I am on a very tight budget and with about 4 days alone, I would like to use the time to partake in some interesting (albeit cheap) activities.
I plan on staying at
Hotel Taormina due to it's location and reasonable price (43 GBP a night) although I'll take suggestions.
Cheap watering holes relative to the hotel and advice on getting from Ciampino airport to the hotel (or one you suggest) would be helpful.
Grazie.

The typical solo backpacker (hostel variety) has plenty of time and limited money. Assuming you like that kind of travel, what would you do differently if you had plenty of money but limited time?

I have been told by many (including boss) I need to take a vacation...so I am looking for somewhere to go this wknd...within a 3-4 hr drive of DC area where I can relax and not spend a ton of cash either. I am a 30-something female who likes a little bit of everything (not a nature nut, but I appreciate it, same with museums.)
