How can I get DVDs to play smoothly on my computer? Whether from a disc or an ISO file on the hard drive I cannot get a DVD to play without it skipping on my computer. [more inside]

Automatic screenshots from a DVD? I know how to take individual screengrabs from a a movie with VLC or Media Player Classic -- but I'd like to get a whole bunch at once. Is there windows software that will let me set an interval and extract a series of screenshots automatically?

Is there a Mac DVD player that will allow me to increase the playback speed while not causing the actors to sound like Karen Walker from "Will and Grace" or the resident munchkins from Oz? [more inside]

Hi, Netflix DVDs in my wife's Toshiba Satellite skips considerably more than my macbook. She has a "tssp" dvd drive and I've got a Matsushita. Is it possible to configure VLC with some sort of monster video buffer so it will skip less? I'm familiar with other disk buffing/cleaning solutions, and am primarily curious about a software solution--VLC, mplayer, or anything else--to use in addition to cleaning the dvd. We've got to get through the rest of Monk, season four without going insane.

I'd like to transcode the commentary tracks of some DVD's for iPod listening, preferably on a mac. I think I have it narrowed down to some obscure VLC commands. [more inside]

Is there a way to horizontally flip the contents of a window in Windows XP (or, specifically, in PowerDVD or a program that plays DVDs) to create a mirror image of that entire window's contents? Any type of solution would be welcome, except for facing the monitor towards an actual mirror. I'm playing an instructional dance DVD, and I need to watch the mirror image.
