How can I build a component library so our designers and developers keep things synchronized and don't end up doing a lot of double and triple work?

I'm toying with the idea of getting a Masters program in the next year or two in a specific field within my current career path. Since the program is fairly unique, the school isn't requiring a GRE score for the application (although it's a top research university in the US on the West Coast). So what are they looking for in my application? How does not needing a GRE score change things? Lots of questions!

Sometimes, I am a front-end web developer. Frequently, I meet new people at work who want to turn really complicated Excel documents into dazzlingly interactive web applications.
Besides
Excel's "Save to Web App" or "Save to SharePoint" features, such people ask if I can tap into an industry to support this -- perhaps scads of agencies and web-based or downloadable tools that make "websites" or at least customizable, interactive reports from Excel spreadsheets, data, and calculations.
I'm yet to find this an abundance of examples of this. Are there? If so, what do you call them?

I'm trying to organize a user research project to be based on NYC and am finding it difficult to find a good facility/lab for this. Any suggestions or pointers to an online resource with a list? I saw a list on Greenbook but it was very short and only a few responded to me.

Most Read Articles | Related Articles | Recommended Articles: These kinds of things that you see on news websites, what are they called? Is there an all encompassing UX term for this? How do content managers decide what is placed where? Do users even click on these links or are they just used to make sure search crawlers get to deeper content?

Where's the best place for UX/UI/IA/ID people to work in New York City? I'm an interaction designer/user experience person at an agency in NYC looking for something new. Khoi Vinh's essay,
The End of Client Services, has me thinking that it's time to step away from agency life.

I'm a solo UI designer for an ad agency & I'm looking for good website or blogs that'll inspire me to make cool & effective user interfaces. Individual websites are cool & all ,but what I'm really looking for are sites like
TheFWA or
SmashingMagazine that curate cool designs.
Bonus points for sites that look at e-commerce websites.

I work for a mid-sized publishing company in London and we're starting to build smartphone and tablet apps. We have technical resource in-house for building the apps and people to handle both the product and project management. What we really lack are great UX designers - where's a good place in the UK to look for the people who can make our apps brilliant to use? Happy to consider hiring full time or getting freelancers in.
