Have you sent mail to Finland from the U.S. with Priority Mail International? Has that ever taken longer than 10 business days? (No customs value involved, in my case - just a standard flat envelope of papers with no value.) [more inside]
I'm moving soon (UK Home Office and God willing) from the US to England. I will be there for roughly 3 years, give or take, and am hoping that I can have a portion of my substantial amount of books there with me. Previous suggestions on shipping indicate USPS M-bags as the go-to choice, but USPS no longer offers anything but air service on media bags, pushing the cost to around $175 for 44 lbs. This is more than I want to spend. Ideas? [more inside]

Can someone familiar with post office procedures tell me if this is a messed-up as I think it is? One day, two independent packages expected that day were, according to the USPS tracking page, scanned as both "Notice Left (No Authorized Recipient Available)" and "Delivered". All four scans had the same timestamp, 2:16 pm on the day they were due. Someone was present at that time, no delivery attempt was in fact made. [more inside]
My local post office happened to lose a piece of (certified) mail that was important to me- so I was busy chasing them around for the past month to no avail. However, today the green "return receipt" card finally arrived back on my doorstep. But unsigned and the (online) tracking still doesn't indicate it was actually delivered. Do they get sent back unsigned? Did it just fall off and get mailed here? Help solve my mail mystery! [more inside]
Somehow the USPS has lost my passport, which was mailed from NYC to Boston. What are my next steps? [more inside]
I'm selling comics on ebay and have no idea what to put for shipping. Media mail seems not to allow comics, flat rate box seems good for 25+, but the padded envelopes seem like overkill for small batches, I'm just not sure what to put. [more inside]
I had a return to Amazon. I printed the label they provided and put it on the envelope. I didn't realize it was a UPS label and not USPS until last night when I went to check the status of my return. I had accidentally put the envelope in a USPS mailbox on Monday last week, April 1. What is going to happen my package? [more inside]
After my PO Box was broken into, I have been searching for a USPS location that has security cameras aimed at the boxes (NOT the space where the employees work), and after speaking to 5 post offices and even chatting with the local postal inspector, I'm beginning to doubt that this even exists. I ordered a package last winter and just realized that I never received it. I was out of town for a bit and traveling so it slipped my mind and I just assumed my partner had brought it in. Now, over six months later, I contacted the company that shipped it to me, and they were able to track down the USPS routing number, but USPS' website is not helping. How can I track this down? [more inside]
I read somewhere that the United States Postal Service does not receive any federal or state funds from taxes, that they do all of their own accounting. [more inside]
I heard through the grapevine that an old school friend has fallen on hard times (long term unemployed and the sole care provider for a seriously ill mother, car died, on the verge of losing their home, etc), so I dropped a check in the mail for her last week. I don't really know them anymore, but I can afford it and good karma and all that. But today I realized that, like an idiot, I used a 44 cent stamp and the current first-class rate is up to 47 cents. Some folks I know have found themselves in San Francisco without a place to stay, but I need to send them some stuff. Does anyone know which Post Office(s) in SF proper accept mail for general delivery?
I had to submit a change of address at the last minute, and I'm very reluctant go back to my old address to get any mail that doesn't get forwarded. I have some questions about the mechanics of mail forwarding. [more inside]
I have a bunch of postcards I'm mailing out from within the US to people in the US, UK and Switzerland. I can put domestic stamps on the cards sent from within the US to our US address, so that the recipients can just drop it in a mailbox. Does the USPS or another entity within the US sell stamps that I can put on the postcards sent from the UK and Switzerland, such that the recipients don't need to buy their own stamps?
My local post office doesn't deliver mail, or on the rare occasion that it does, it comes horribly late. What can I do to rectify the situation? [more inside]
Hi everyone. I recently visited an online map where people who share a very unusual niche hobby place a pin where they live, voluntarily including an address or name if they'd like, and I found to my pleasant shock that a fellow enthusiast lives only a few blocks from me. He/she left a contact address but not a name, and I'd really love to write to this person, but I have no idea what the normal etiquette is for addressing a personal envelope to an unnamed recipient (to be clear, I don't mean the letter itself, but the envelope). What happens to your mail when the PO closes your box for nonpayment? Forgot to pay my PO Box bill. The box has been closed. This is just in the past week or so. But what will happen to my mail? Are they holding it? Sending it all back to the original senders? Yes, I will call the PO tomorrow, but I will sleep better tonight if I know what's happening to my clients' checks, even if I can't fix the problem right now.

I have perfected homemade marshmallows and they are delicious! They are so delicious that I want to send some from San Francisco to a friend in England. The only trouble is that the marshmallows have a coating of white powder (confectioners' sugar and a little cornflour) to ensure they don't stick together and create one big mess. Am I asking for trouble by sending this stuff via USPS internationally? [more inside]
Sent package from MN to Toronto 3 weeks ago. It hasn't arrived. I have no way to track it. Is this a lost cause? [more inside]
Here we go again: This is now multiple times that the wonderful USPS has, given a package sent to me through their service, made the tracking unavailable until after the date they supposedly delivered and then claimed that it's been delivered when I've had no sign of it. Where do I actually find out what the handling policies of the USPS are supposed to be, and who can I complain to that's higher than my local branch? [more inside]
My wife and I moved into a new house this year, with a different mailman and a different UPS driver. Since we just had our first baby, all of our holiday shopping has been online. To express our thanks for their efforts, we bought some gourmet chocolates from a local chocolate shop for them, and left a nice card attached to both. Neither was accepted, just left sitting where we left them. Did we run afoul of some UPS and USPS regulation, or was it a crappy gift?

The US Postal Service said my package was 'undeliverable' despite the fact that I live at the address provided, and get all my mail here. They didn't make another attempt. The tracking said it will be returned to sender if possible. This was about a month ago. I emailed them, and got a response that basically said 'oops, sorry. this kind of thing can happen. we have a lot mail to deal with and don't track anything and you are basically screwed.' Do I have any recourse? [more inside]
I've ordered a dress on behalf of the wife and it is being made and shipped from the Ukraine.
They have given us a tracking number, but I suspect it is an incorrect one:
The number supplied starts with RA, then has 9 digits and ends with UA.
I've looked at the USPS Track & Confirm page and there is no RA suffix, only RE - and they always end in US, not UA
So have I been given bogus info ?
