Puzzling Mail Carrier Behavior

Can someone familiar with post office procedures tell me if this is a messed-up as I think it is? One day, two independent packages expected that day were, according to the USPS tracking page, scanned as both "Notice Left (No Authorized Recipient Available)" and "Delivered". All four scans had the same timestamp, 2:16 pm on the day they were due. Someone was present at that time, no delivery attempt was in fact made. [more inside]

What is going on with my mail?

My local post office happened to lose a piece of (certified) mail that was important to me- so I was busy chasing them around for the past month to no avail. However, today the green "return receipt" card finally arrived back on my doorstep. But unsigned and the (online) tracking still doesn't indicate it was actually delivered. Do they get sent back unsigned? Did it just fall off and get mailed here? Help solve my mail mystery! [more inside]

Shipping comics via USPS - confused by all the options

I'm selling comics on ebay and have no idea what to put for shipping. Media mail seems not to allow comics, flat rate box seems good for 25+, but the padded envelopes seem like overkill for small batches, I'm just not sure what to put. [more inside]

Does your USPS PO Box office have security cameras?

Need help locating a mysteriously vanished package

I ordered a package last winter and just realized that I never received it. I was out of town for a bit and traveling so it slipped my mind and I just assumed my partner had brought it in. Now, over six months later, I contacted the company that shipped it to me, and they were able to track down the USPS routing number, but USPS' website is not helping. How can I track this down? What happens to mail with insufficient postage and no return address?

I heard through the grapevine that an old school friend has fallen on hard times (long term unemployed and the sole care provider for a seriously ill mother, car died, on the verge of losing their home, etc), so I dropped a check in the mail for her last week. I don't really know them anymore, but I can afford it and good karma and all that. But today I realized that, like an idiot, I used a 44 cent stamp and the current first-class rate is up to 47 cents. International postage stamps from a domestic source

I have a bunch of postcards I'm mailing out from within the US to people in the US, UK and Switzerland. I can put domestic stamps on the cards sent from within the US to our US address, so that the recipients can just drop it in a mailbox. Does the USPS or another entity within the US sell stamps that I can put on the postcards sent from the UK and Switzerland, such that the recipients don't need to buy their own stamps?

Addressing an Envelope When the Recipient's Name is Unknown to You?

Hi everyone. I recently visited an online map where people who share a very unusual niche hobby place a pin where they live, voluntarily including an address or name if they'd like, and I found to my pleasant shock that a fellow enthusiast lives only a few blocks from me. He/she left a contact address but not a name, and I'd really love to write to this person, but I have no idea what the normal etiquette is for addressing a personal envelope to an unnamed recipient (to be clear, I don't mean the letter itself, but the envelope). Going postal over delivery failures.

Here we go again: This is now multiple times that the wonderful USPS has, given a package sent to me through their service, made the tracking unavailable until after the date they supposedly delivered and then claimed that it's been delivered when I've had no sign of it. Did we anger our letter carrier with our gift?

My wife and I moved into a new house this year, with a different mailman and a different UPS driver. Since we just had our first baby, all of our holiday shopping has been online. To express our thanks for their efforts, we bought some gourmet chocolates from a local chocolate shop for them, and left a nice card attached to both. Neither was accepted, just left sitting where we left them. Did we run afoul of some UPS and USPS regulation, or was it a crappy gift?

The tracking said it will be returned to sender if possible. This was about a month ago. Have I been given the wong (tracking) number here ?

I've ordered a dress on behalf of the wife and it is being made and shipped from the Ukraine. They have given us a tracking number, but I suspect it is an incorrect one: The number supplied starts with RA, then has 9 digits and ends with UA. I've looked at the USPS Track & Confirm page and there is no RA suffix, only RE - and they always end in US, not UA So have I been given bogus info ?
