I'm going to Great Britain for two weeks and will be splitting time between London and Cambridge. I have an IPhone and have signed up to use ATT's international data plan while in the UK. The plan is limited to 20 MB of data. Also, I don't plan to use my IPhone to make phone calls while there. Just access the web to navigate around. [more inside]

Colleague and I are staying in York, UK for a week in October. Help us decide which flat we should rent. One is at 16 Park Crescent, just off Monkgate. The other is in a converted warehouse on Peter Lane, near High Ousegate. We want good pubs and walks nearby, and we value quiet and safety. [more inside]

So, I've agreed to drive a group of people to Longleat Safari Park this weekend. It's been in the diary for months, but the weather forecast is not good.
If you've been to Longleat before - is the bad weather going to spoil the trip? should we reschedule?

I need to get from Birmingham in the UK to Norwich in the UK without a car. What is the most efficient route to take if I want to go by Coach or Rail (i.e. National Express etc.). The "direct" route seems to take about 5 or 6 hours which is ridiculous. I feel sure there must be a much quicker option involving stopping off somewhere in between and catching another coach or train etc.
If anyone can advise me I'd be extremely grateful.
TIA.

I'm moving to London in a few weeks to attend a graduate program [UL's SOAS]. I am leaving my long term boyfriend and many friends in Vermont for 9 months to attend classes. I've already lined up a part time tutoring gig and my housing is covered through the university. I don't have anything specific to ask, just general advice about being an American late 20-something non-single student in London. [I've lived in second world countries before for extended periods of time, general travel won't be too helpful.] Money is a concern, but not an obstacle.

Let's say you're spending three weeks in Europe late this summer. The first week is in Denmark, the third is in Ireland. Where would you spend the second? You'd like to go somewhere off the beaten path (in other words not Paris, London, or Amsterdam), but don't want to spend too much time in transit. You'd rather go somewhere rural than urban, you have a limited budget, and you'd prefer culture to castles and cathedrals. Any suggestions?

Going to Scotland and don't want to blow up my new iPod, so I'm looking for some firsthand knowledge here -- do UK cars have the same kind of AC cigarette lighters? Will I be able to power the 'Pod with my Belkin car adapter in my rental car? Or do I have to spring for the "world traveler" adapter kit to power the blasted thing while I'm across the pond?
