So this may sound dumb, and obvious.... I'm just thrashing out a question that I've been discussing with a couple of friends recently.
Let's say I legally purchase a batch of high-value, trendy goods. It doesn't really matter what they are -- let's say the latest iPhone, for the sake of argument. Can I set up a store (online or in the high-street) renting them out to anyone who wants to agree to a contract with me? So let's pretend an iPhone 6 will retail at £500. If I purchase a batch of 100 at £400 each, and rent them out at £25/month for a 2 year contract, I make a good profit.
Assume the iPhones are genuine, and that purchasers/renters are happy to arrange their own SIM cards, telecomms contracts, etc. These are working items.
What are the reasons I couldn't do this? Is there any legal reason, or trading standards reason, that would prevent me from setting up a business doing this? [more inside]

My small business needs an independent 3rd party to keep a weather eye on us and ensure we stop slacking. Where should I go looking to find someone experienced who could give us 2 hours of their time every month for next-to-do nothing? [more inside]

Did anyone claim that "Enron couldn't happen in the UK"?
I'm looking for actual examples of politicians/commentators/business leaders stating that an Enron-style collapse couldn't happen in the UK due to stronger corporate governance culture here than in the US. [more inside]

My boss' small business, an exhibition, spends a lot of money on electricity due to all of the display cabinet's lights. Is there a grant or loan we can get to change over to low power lights? We are in England.

What is the best company formation agent to use in the UK to form a limited company? How can I tell if a company formation agent is reliable and trustworthy and are there any reviews of them available? I would also prefer an "all in one solution" that includes a registered office too. [more inside]

I've been a sole trader for 10 years, but calculators such as this
suggest I could save maybe £2000 a year on tax by becoming a limited company. Have others found it worthwhile? [more inside]

Anyone know a good shipping agent in the UK? I have a consignment of goods being sent there from Indonesia. I'm a UK resident but won't be back there until June. The goods will arrive back just before I do & I need an agent to handle all of the admin.
