My church is upgrading its computers and the old copies of Office are long since vanished, evidently. (If they ever existed; I kind of suspect the last person who did IT stuff may have pirated it.) So, we're buying new versions. But our office manager is... well, she's not at all computer literate. She's kind of continuing to be employed more on a charity basis than because she's actually very capable. But I need to get her able to actually use the basic features of Word, Excel, and Publisher on the new versions, in the simplest way possible that does not involve my personally sitting with her for days at a time. Help? [more inside]
I'd love to do more urban/travel sketching with watercolors and ink, and I'm pretty new to art. How do I learn to do it better? More inside! [more inside]

In particular, I'm interested in videos or other tutorials related to making collages, stencils (for street art) and screen printing. My equipment at home is pretty rudimentary, especially when it comes to screen printing, so techniques that are more DIY than super sophisticated are appreciated. I'm very interested in tutorials that take a specific work of art and show how it was made with steps along the way. Thanks!
Hi Everyone! All of my clients are asking for this style of animation/screen casting (SFW): http://youtu.be/RYZ7IkboW7M It's the manic screen twisting animation with text and simple images displayed over basic color backgrounds. I am moderately skilled in After Effects (and own the suite) so I'd love to accommodate them, but I am more accustomed to creating explosions, light sabers and monsters than this kind of stuff. I would like to know if anyone knows of specific online classes or easy to follow tutorials for this specific style/type of animation? I've found many After Effects tutorials, but I'm looking for something specifically geared to creating a video similar to the one posted above. I am happily prepared to pay for these as I really need to be somewhat proficient in this by early 2014. Thanks a million!
I'm familiar with Lynda.com, Kelby Training or TutsPlus/Premium for creative professionals and learning new creative or programming related skills. Is there a good equivalent for learning IT skills? Things like networking, computer troubleshooting, server support, active directory, etc? My google foo is failing me, probably because it's an area I'm not familiar with. I would prefer an all in one type site with curated materials as opposed to just finding stuff on youtube. [more inside]

I'm finally using git. Right now I'm using it stupidly: I pull from the main branch, make changes, push the changes, and then deploy. I'd like to be smarter with this process, and in particular, I'd like to be able to have (1) a process that can handle changes in priority easily and that (2) includes a clear separation between code that still needs to be tested vs. code ready to go live. I Need help with (I hope) simple Wordpress to modify an existing Wordpress webpage Seeking recommendations of (youtube?) tutorials, basic manuals, etc. I have 30 years of varied computer experience, but none with creating/maintaining web page content. And didn't want any. A friend and I have inherited that task from our webmaster and I don't understand the mindset and terminology of pages, posts, categories. I need to rearrange the home page , adding some pages and changing the layout, add photos (linked to (apparently) pages, in a changing display, etc etc. googling wordpress tutorial free gives lots of possibilities. I think we will set up a blog one of these days, but most important is to modify the web pages. I need some basics. Is a blog a subset of a web page, or vice versa, or is it all the same? Any help will be appreciated. I found the following in the archives, but still appreciate help. [more inside]
